Job Description

Precise Systems is looking for a Production Sonobuoy Engineer (PSE) in support of Airborne ASW Systems Engineering Division. AN/SSQ Series Production Sonobuoys are the principal sensors used by U.S. Navy Air Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) forces in carrying out their primary mission functions of detection, classification and localization of adversary submarines during peacetime and combat operations. The Production Engineering Branch is located in Crane, IN. The PSE is responsible for the oversight of assigned production sonobuoys delivered to the Navy by generating and maintaining engineering and technical requirements for design, manufacturing, quality and reliability as required. This includes coordination and communication with the Contracting Officer, other government agencies, as well as the sonobuoy manufacturer.

This role requires in-person support.

Duties:
  • Provide technical interpretation of performance specification requirements to Contracting Officer and sonobuoy manufacturers.
  • Monitor and generate quality assurance and reliability assessments/recommendations of the sonobuoy manufacturers' production performance
  • Generate and maintain engineering and technical requirements for design, manufacturing, quality and reliability as required.
  • Review all contractor Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), deviations, waivers and provide recommendations for approval of hardware changes.
  • Monitor and review all ECP changes to determine configuration item impact. Provide recommendations on qualification testing
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes and implement new processes.
  • Deliver strong communication skills (written & verbal); ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

Required Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education, employment, internships, and/or research activities that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Experience with quality assurance / management processes as related to manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of technical requirements, design specification, and ability to read and interpret contractor technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of current Microsoft Windows operating systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Travel Required: Regular travel - you are expected to travel up to 5 days per month for this position. Estimated annual travel is ~10%.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
