Full Job Description
Position Purpose

The Production Shift Supervisor coordinates, supervises, and remains actively engaged in the daily production activities of hourly employees. This position oversees operations in accordance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements while balancing productivity, quality, cost, and employee morale.

The Production Shift Supervisor also supports the planning and coordination of shipments and is responsible for activities related to the receipt, storage, and distribution of direct and raw materials.

Principal Accountabilities

Production
  • Review production schedules and coordinate daily production activities.
  • Maximize labor efficiency while maintaining production and quality requirements.
  • Adjust workforce assignments based on production and staffing needs.
  • Plan and execute production schedules while considering equipment capacity and limitations.
  • Maintain appropriate production flow to meet operational objectives.

Quality
  • Develop, maintain, and audit quality control standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ISO standards, including the Quality Policy Statement and Quality Control Procedures Manual.
  • Ensure employees complete assigned training, including required work instruction reviews.
  • Verify that hands-on employee training aligns with documented work instructions.
  • Identify and address quality issues to support consistent production standards.

Safety
  • Promote a safe working environment and actively monitor workforce activities to reduce recordable incidents and lost-time injuries.
  • Enforce company safety policies, procedures, and work practices.
  • Conduct safety meetings and safety contacts as required.
  • Investigate and report near misses and workplace injuries and develop corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Conduct the annual review of required Right-to-Know materials.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the work area.

Cost Management
  • Manage operations efficiently to control direct labor and material costs.
  • Monitor workforce utilization and production efficiency.
  • Encourage and support employee ideas for cost reduction and process improvement.

Employee Leadership
  • Fairly and consistently administer company and personnel policies.
  • Build effective working relationships with employees and promote a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Train, coach, motivate, and develop a competent workforce.
  • Provide clear direction and expectations to hourly employees.
  • Understand and apply the terms of the applicable labor agreement as needed.
