East Peoria, IL - Salary Range 78 - 117kJob BriefThe Supervisor, Production Planner is responsible for translating demand, inventory, capacity, and supply inputs into an executable master production plan that supports customer service, on-time delivery, inventory, and operational performance objectives. This role coordinates with planners, operations, supply planning, materials, finance, product management, and business group stakeholders to align near-term and mid-range production plans with business priorities, customer requirements, and available capacity. The Supervisor, Production Planner evaluates supply and demand constraints, supports the monthly SIOP/IBP process, monitors schedule attainment and forecast consumption, and recommends actions to balance service, inventory, cost, and operational feasibility.
Responsibilities- Develops and maintains the master production schedule for assigned product groups, plants, or value streams, converting demand plans and supply inputs into executable production plans within the agreed planning horizon.
- Reviews demand, inventory, capacity, material availability, and production constraints to identify potential supply and demand imbalances and recommend practical resolution options.
- Supports monthly SIOP/IBP preparation and execution by providing planning analysis, supply scenarios, pacing updates, inventory projections, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Partners with plant operations, production schedulers, materials, procurement, logistics, finance, product management, and business group teams to align production plans with customer demand, service expectations, and operational capabilities.
- Monitors schedule attainment, forecast consumption, inventory levels, safety stock, planned delivery lead times, and material requirements planning outputs to support production readiness and customer delivery commitments.
- Maintains and reviews planning parameters, planning bills of material, MRP inputs, safety stock assumptions, lead times, and master data needed to support accurate planning outputs.
- Coordinates cross-functional review of supply constraints, production priorities, capacity gaps, and inventory actions, escalating issues and recommendations as needed.
- Supports new product introduction, product transitions, phase-in/phase-out planning, and milestone reviews by evaluating inventory, supply, capacity, timing, and cost impacts.
- Prepares planning reports, dashboards, and summary materials that communicate plan status, risks, trade-offs, and recommended actions to business partners and leadership.
- Supports continuous improvement of planning processes, tools, data quality, reporting, and planning discipline across assigned product groups or facilities.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related quantitative discipline.
- APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain planning certification preferred.
- Typically requires 5 or more years of experience in production planning, master scheduling, supply planning, demand planning, materials planning, or a related supply chain planning role.
- Experience using SAP/EPICOR, integrated business planning tools, advanced planning systems, or equivalent ERP/planning systems.
- Experience supporting seasonal make-to-stock planning, assemble-to-order fulfillment models, product transitions, or multi-site production planning.
- Experience developing planning scenarios and communicating supply, inventory, and capacity trade-offs.
- Ability to influence without direct authority and work effectively across functions, facilities, and levels of the organization.
- Experience improving planning processes, master data quality, reporting, or planning system utilization.
- Knowledge of master production scheduling, material requirements planning, capacity planning, inventory planning, and SIOP/IBP processes.
- Ability to analyze demand, supply, capacity, inventory, and production data to identify risks, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend actions.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations, materials, finance, product management, procurement, and business group stakeholders to support planning decisions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to summarize complex planning issues, risks, and recommendations clearly for stakeholders and leadership.
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and follow-through skills in a dynamic planning environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including strong Microsoft Excel skills.
