Full Job Description
Location: This position will be on-site full-time in Chicopee, MA. The position holder will need to be within commuting distance (within 45 min).

Production Manager Summary:

This Production Manager is responsible for providing overall leadership to production supervisors with the primary objective to meet or exceed customer expectations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to setting goals and objectives, planning and utilizing resources effectively within safety and quality standards. Initiates and manages quality and cost improvement activities. This position works in collaboration with a variety of other departments including Quality, Supply Chain, and HR as well as outside vendors and customers.

Production Manager Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides direction and leadership to production supervisors including setting goals and objectives, providing coaching and feedback, developing and performance appraisals.
  • Tracks and supports production schedules. Identifies production shortfalls as early as possible and develop recovery schedules as needed, working with customer service to apprise customers of delivery issues.
  • Communicates directly with customers and sales support as needed.
  • Monitors on-time delivery performance, implementing corrective action when service levels fall below targets.
  • Monitors labor and equipment performance against established standards. Reviews shortfalls with employees, implementing corrective action measures including employee training, documenting SOPs, initiating process improvements and other corrective action measures as needed.
  • Balances staffing levels to reduce overtime spending while maintaining service levels.
  • Manages overall production performance including safety, productivity, cost effectiveness, quality, other key metrics associated with production and reports results to management.
  • Maintains appropriate communication and documentation of changes and updates to production process and documents SOPs, in collaboration with the Quality Department.
  • Works with production supervisors and Human Resources to reduce turnover and improve attendance and retention of employees.
  • Maintains high levels of communication with employees at all levels within the organization and with customers and vendors on a timely basis.
  • Maintains initiatives designed to increase safety awareness within the production department.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.


Production Manager Qualification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations, Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years operations management experience in the manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred.
  • ERP (Epicor) knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to take direction and work independently.
  • Possesses a high level of personal integrity and self-control.
  • Good Organizational Skills.
  • Good Problem-Solving abilities.
  • Ability to take initiative, with a demonstrated passion and commitment for getting the job done right the first time.
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' while also being able to manage at the detail level.
