Production Manager, Monticello, Arkansas

When you join our team as a Production Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation andperformance of the sawmill and finishing end at our Monticello Division. Thesuccessful candidate will be an engaging safety leader who will manage a highlymotivated team in a technical and fast-paced manufacturing environment. Thisposition will be responsible for the safe and effective management of allproduction areas of the operation, including the sawmill, planer, kilns, andshipping department.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Monticello mill including sawmill, planer, kiln, and shipping departments.
  • Always maintain the highest standards with respect to safety, leading by example and ensuring the team follows all policies, procedures, practices and regulations.
  • Manage and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and maximize the quality, value, and recovery of lumber produced.
  • Engage production and maintenance workers to achieve targets, meet expectations, and address deficiencies in a productive and professional manner.
  • Ensure quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement that utilizes a fact-based approach to pursuing business excellence while ensuring that targets and objectives are communicated to all processing personnel.
  • Establish and maintain quality and production standards for all departments
  • Work closely with log procurement staff to provide information required for purchase decisions.
  • Maintain clear communication between internal staff and crew to facilitate optimum performance.
  • Provide technical and management advice to direct reports & team members.
  • Assist in performing required forecasting and financial analysis
  • Partner with process control leadership to drive superior results in value creation.
  • Create and sustain an environment that values employees and engages them in fully contributing to the objectives of the business.


What You Offer

  • The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience within a mill environment with exposure to both the sawmill and planer.
  • Post-secondary education in Wood Products, Business, Operations or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Must be experienced in all phases of sawmill/planer operations including a solid reputation of improvement.
  • Thorough knowledge of lumber manufacturing business including equipment, processes, products, and optimization.
  • Mechanical/electrical aptitude would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational and leadership capabilities, driving team performance and achieving operational goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Strong analytical abilities with comprehensive knowledge of sawmill operations, which includes optimizing processes and improving efficiency.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align tactical actions with long-term business objectives for sustained growth and success.
  • Strong computer skills utilizing Windows basedprograms and Microsoft Office
