Job PurposeThe Production Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing daily manufacturing operations within a defense production environment, ensuring products are manufactured safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with defense industry regulations and quality standards. This role drives operational excellence, continuous improvement, and workforce performance while maintaining strict adherence to government, military, and regulatory requirements, and fluency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee daily production operations to ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery targets are met.
- Plan, coordinate and control production activities to ensure schedules are met.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards.
- Supervise production supervisors and line-leads to ensure adherence to standard work instructions and procedures.
- Monitor production budgets and costs to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
- Closely work together with other departments like Planning, Purchasing, Sales, Human Resources etc.to align production goals with overall business objectives.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, analyze performance data and implement strategies for process optimization and increased productivity.
- Report directly to the Senior Operations Manager on production performance, staffing needs, and operational challenges.
- Maintain high morale and sense of teamwork.
- Manage overtime and PTO requests and schedules.
- Monitor equipment functionality and repair progress.
- Emphasize and re-enforce safety standards and procedures.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications- Strong preference for candidates fluent in both English and Spanish.
- Advanced technical degree is preferred.
- 8 + years of experience in technical mixed high/low volume manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in managing special processes (i.e. soldering, testing).
- Experience in managing production schedules with high numbers of different products.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principals preferred.
- Ability to work with and present to all levels of management.
- Ability to accurately and thoroughly document processes, procedures, and training documents.
