Position Summary

The Production Manager represents integral link between front line leadership and management demonstrating effective leadership in the efficient operation of the Iron Oak Energy facility.

The Production Manager will direct production personnel with a focus on providing a safe work environment that results in the manufacture of quality products, on schedule, at the lowest optimum cost consistent with corporate objectives.

The Production Manager will exemplify behaviors of high integrity, versatility, leading with an ownership mentality and using good judgment. The Production Manager will encourage teamwork and communicate transparently both up and down the organization. The position will report to the Senior Plant Manager.

The Production Manager will champion a continuous improvement mindset at the plant.

Essential Functions

  • Assume responsibility of and direct Bigfoot plant operations including production, common maintenance, quality control, and loadout.
  • Advise the Senior Plant Manager, and other managerial staff as appropriate, of any concerns or potential impediments to the ability of the plant to operate in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Schedule, direct, and oversee all activities of operations personnel at their site to achieve the safe and efficient utilization of manpower, material, and facilities.
  • Evaluate production, equipment and process related problems and recommend corrections and/or improvements.
  • Manage the coordination, implementation and standardization of process improvements.
  • Identify and improve critical process controls and automation schemes.
  • Identify and evaluate key throughput bottlenecks.
  • Assure the flow of routine information to other departments or immediate Manager is mutually effective and accessible.
  • Support and ensure participation in, and compliance with, the health, safety, and housekeeping programs in the plant pursuant to Company policy.
  • Establish and maintain an environment that supports the supervision, training, and development of all production staff.
  • Recommend changes in standards, procedures or processes that support continuous improvement of safety, performance and integrity of the plant and the products it produces.
  • Partner with Corporate HR team to ensure appropriate facility staffing is maintained in a proactive manner. Provide assistance with recruiting and managing the life cycle of employees through growth and development in skillset and compensation methods.
  • When appropriate, coordinate work with outside contractors.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (engineering-related field, preferably mechanical or chemical), or a combination of degree and at least 7 years operational experience
  • Must have prior experience with mining operations
  • Knowledge of asset utilization practices and field-application techniques
  • Have understanding of process optimization, control systems, and data analytics
  • Ability to constantly and professionally administer procedures, policies and reports
  • Exceptional communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal abilities; organization and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various technology programs to maintain records and reports for the facility
  • Ability to work both tactically and strategically
  • Ability to effectively manage personnel located in remote areas with hands-on, solution-driven approach
