Job Description

We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our manufacturing site in Lake Charles, LA. In this role, you will report to the Technical Manager and provide critical support to the operating unit by troubleshooting process issues and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Your focus will be on enhancing production efficiency, product quality, and overall yield performance.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Six Sigma tools to identify and drive productivity improvements focused on increased production rates, enhanced product quality, optimized material usage, and reduced fixed costs.
  • Lead the execution and tracking of productivity improvement projects.
  • Provide support for troubleshooting process and production issues.
  • Support and coordinate product and process trials.
  • Own and drive quality tracking initiatives and continuous improvement projects
  • Develop, manage, and enhance operator critical control plans and data visualization tools.
  • Support materials variance tracking and analysis of material usage.
  • Execute Management of Change (MOC) processes.
  • Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and support the closure of action items.
  • Conduct audits of critical life safety procedures.
  • Support the shipment sample release process.
  • Assist with month-end close activities and customer interactions, including complaints, audits, and site visits.
  • Support and facilitate Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Production Loss Analysis (PLA).
  • Contribute to quality and incident investigations through data collection and analysis.
  • Participate in Responsible Care and Process Safety Management (PSM) audits.
  • Support maintaining ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
  • Assist with production forecasting activities.
  • Support First Pass Quality (FPQ) tracking, including AML creation and Enablon entries for FPQ misses.

Required Qualifications

  • B. S. degree in Chemical Engineering or another engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in process, production and/or manufacturing engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite applications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience with liquid, solid, and slurry processes.
  • Six Sigma training


Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
  • Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator
