We are actively seeking a
Production Engineer to join our Lloydminster Conventional team in Calgary. Reporting to the Manager, Production & Capital Operations, this position will be responsible for the production engineering activities associated with the cold heavy oil assets. The role involves collaborating closely with field operations staff to optimize production, facility and pipeline operation, reservoir efficiency, equipment longevity, and operating costs, while creating and executing on base capital and production budgets.
Responsibilities: - Support Strathcona safety and environmental practices.
- Manage day-to-day production operations. Monitor area and individual well performance.
- Justify and evaluate economics on all routine and non-routine workovers and well interventions. Initiate well servicing programs for required workovers. Optimize the design of artificial lift systems.
- Work closely with the field operations and well servicing group to help manage service rig and rod rig activity.
- Raise capital AFEs. Responsible for tracking all area base capital and assisting with monthly capital accruals and forecasting on AFEs.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary asset team including development engineering, geology, reservoir, facilities and drilling to plan and execute area development programs.
- Work with operations and facility engineering to optimize and debottleneck facilities and pipeline networks.
- Work with the measurement team, operations, and production accounting to ensure area compliance.
- Help manage area regulatory requirements and obligations pertaining to inactive well compliance (D13), and packer isolation testing.
- Work with field staff to effectively manage and lower operating costs. Responsible for monthly accruals and adhering to budget for Downhole Maintenance.
- Provide engineering support to field staff to minimize downtime and optimize well production.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with production related service providers and government agencies.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Registered with APEGA and/or APEGS
- Knowledge of downhole failure mechanisms and methods of mitigating failures.
- Extensive experience with well servicing and interventions.
- Experience with drilling and completions operations.
- Strong ability to self-motivate and prioritize tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong team player with good organization, energy, and adaptability.
- Keen attention to detail, along with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Preferred experience with systems such as GeoScout (or similar), ProdView (or similar production tracking software), WellView (or similar well servicing software), Valnav, and Verdazo.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of advanced analytical tools (Tableau) is beneficial.
Work Environment: - Based in the Calgary office with occasional travel to well sites, facilities, and field offices.
