NSB Omega is searching for a Production Engineer/Specialist for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in St. John's, NL.

Assignment Description

Our oil & gas client is seeking an experienced Production Engineer / Specialist to provide technical and operational support for production activities. This is an office-based position supporting field operations, production optimization, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with Production Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, and other technical teams to improve production performance, identify operational issues, and ensure safe and efficient hydrocarbon production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze daily production performance, including oil, gas, and water production.
  • Review production data and identify trends, constraints, losses, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide technical support to field production operations and assist with troubleshooting production issues.
  • Evaluate well and facility performance and recommend corrective actions or optimization opportunities.
  • Support production forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports, dashboards, and technical presentations.
  • Analyze well tests, production allocation data, pressure data, and other relevant production information.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Reservoir Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and other disciplines to resolve production constraints.
  • Participate in production optimization studies and initiatives designed to increase production and improve operating efficiency.
  • Support well intervention, workover, start-up, shutdown, and debottlenecking activities as required.
  • Review operating procedures and provide recommendations to improve reliability, efficiency, and production performance.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce production losses, downtime, and operating costs.
  • Ensure production activities are aligned with company HSE standards, operating procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in technical meetings, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate production records and ensure data quality and integrity.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant oil & gas production experience, preferably in an upstream operating environment.
  • Strong understanding of production engineering principles, well performance, artificial lift, production optimization, and surface facilities.
  • Experience analyzing production and operational data and translating findings into practical recommendations.
  • Proficiency with production engineering and data-analysis software/tools.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with production databases, dashboards, or visualization tools is an asset.
  • Knowledge of well testing, nodal analysis, artificial lift, flow assurance, and production surveillance is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical and operations teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting mature oil & gas assets and production optimization programs.
  • Familiarity with SCADA, production allocation, historian, or real-time production data.
  • Experience with artificial lift systems such as ESP, gas lift, or rod pumps.
  • Experience working with production forecasting and performance KPIs.
  • Previous office-based support for field production operations.
