Full Job Description
As a Production Engineer with PPG's Aerospace Business working onsite at our Sylmar manufacturing facility, you will support transformational projects within transparency assembly. This entry-level role combines Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering principles to improve processes, resolve manufacturing issues and grow Sylmar's commercial transparencies program. Reporting directly to the Commercial Production Manager you will have a hands-on with Lean manufacturing processes and collaborate across teams and with production staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize and grow manufacturing processes and transition to a single piece flow pull system in the final assembly area.
  • Redefine routings, labor standards, work instructions, and tooling requirements.
  • Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials in manufacturing process.
  • Apply Lean tools (e.g., value stream mapping, time studies) to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Collaborate to resolve production issues and lead strategic improvements.
  • Lead ergonomic projects to enhance employee safety and comfort.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline required.
  • 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience (internships/co-ops included).
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or databases
  • Comfortable working both in office and on the production floor.
  • Prior experience with 3D printing preferred
  • Prior experience with CAD software preferred


The base salary range for this position is $80,000-$92,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 4.5% of base salary.
