Full Job Description
The Production Accountant serves as the dedicated Production Accounting partner for an assigned portfolio of operated assets, ensuring production data accurately reflects field operations and supports Crescent's operational, financial, and regulatory reporting obligations.

This position balances daily production stewardship with month-end production accounting responsibilities, partnering closely with Lease Operators, Foremen, Superintendents, Measurement, Engineering, Revenue, Regulatory, and other stakeholders to proactively identify and resolve production issues before they impact reporting.

As Crescent continues to grow through acquisitions, this role supports asset integrations, develops allocation networks, validates production master data, and drives continuous improvement across Production Accounting while promoting standardized processes across the enterprise.

Daily Production Review & Asset Stewardship
  • Serve as the primary Production Accounting representative for an assigned portfolio of operated asset ensuring reported production accurately reflects field operations.
  • Monitor production exceptions, allocation variances, and production anomalies, proactively investigating and resolving issues before month-end close.
  • Partner with Lease Operators, Foremen, Superintendents, and Measurement personnel to resolve production issues impacting reporting accuracy.
  • Participate in recurring operational meetings to review production performance, upcoming activities, discuss issues, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of assigned assets and provide production accounting guidance to operational stakeholders.

Month-End Production Accounting & Allocations
  • Perform month-end production accounting activities for an assigned portfolio of operated assets.
  • Maintain allocation networks, allocation factors, ownership relationships, and production accounting master data.
  • Review and reconcile production volumes, purchaser statements, and allocated sales volumes to ensure accurate financial and operational reporting.
  • Investigate and resolve production accounting discrepancies identified during the month-end close process.
  • Maintain documentation and supporting records in accordance with SOX controls and established Production Accounting procedures.
  • Complete production close activities within established deadlines while supporting acquisitions, divestitures, and other asset transitions.


Production Exception Management & Data Integrity
  • Investigate production imbalances, allocation exceptions, and reporting discrepancies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Reconcile production to sales, inventory, and disposition volumes.
  • Analyze production trends to identify recurring operational or accounting issues.
  • Coordinate with Measurement to resolve issues affecting production data quality.
  • Maintain accurate production master data supporting operational, financial, and regulatory reporting.


Business Partnership & Regulatory Support
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Revenue, Regulatory, Land, and Marketing to ensure accurate production reporting.
  • Provide production accounting support to the Production Reporting Coordinator by validating production volumes and researching discrepancies supporting Texas Railroad Commission, Utah, ONRR OGOR, EIA, and other regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Communicate production risks, reporting impacts, and operational issues to management and stakeholders.
  • Support internal and external audits related to production accounting.


Systems, Continuous Improvement & Acquisition Integration
  • Support testing of ProCount enhancements and production accounting process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and improve allocation efficiency.
  • Document standardized business processes and promote operational consistency.
  • Build and validate allocation networks for newly acquired assets.
  • Support the production accounting integration of acquired assets, including production master data validation.
  • Promote standardized production accounting practices across Crescent.


Education & Experience

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Energy Commerce, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years of upstream oil and gas production accounting experience.
  • Experience with ProCount or comparable production accounting software.
  • Strong understanding of production allocations, reconciliations, production reporting, and upstream operations.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred
  • Experience supporting acquisitions and asset integrations.
  • Experience with Carte, SQL, Power BI, or similar analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of production regulatory reporting processes.
