Full Job Description

The Product Pricing & Economics - FP&A Analyst is responsible for supporting Vanguard's Member Fund pricing and helping translate product economics, fund expense information, and strategic considerations into well-supported pricing recommendations. The role contributes to decisions that help optimize the value returned to investors while maintaining a consistent, transparent, and well-governed approach to fund pricing.

This role has the potential for significant impact on Vanguard and its investors, along with exposure to senior leaders and cross-functional partners across the organization. Ideal candidates are intellectually curious, strong analytical problem solvers, and effective communicators with an interest in the investment management industry. They demonstrate excellent attention to detail, high standards for quality and accuracy, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while staying anchored to broader business and investor objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains expertise in Vanguard's Member Fund pricing methodology, including the principles, assumptions, data, and governance processes that support pricing decisions.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis to support expense ratio changes, new fund pricing, fund events, and other product pricing decisions.
  • Evaluates fund economics, competitive positioning, investor impact, and potential product conflicts to develop rigorous and defensible pricing recommendations.
  • Partners with Product Strategy, Finance, Legal, Risk, Data, and other stakeholders to gather inputs, resolve issues, and ensure alignment across pricing, operational, and governance considerations.
  • Prepares clear, concise, executive-level materials for senior leaders and governance forums, translating complex analyses into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Supports ongoing enhancements to pricing methodologies, analytical tools, data, documentation, and controls to improve accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and transparency.
  • Maintains comprehensive process and methodology documentation and shares knowledge to build team capability, support onboarding, and provide continuity.
  • Develops and maintains broad knowledge of Vanguard's fund lineup, the investment management industry, competitor products, and marketplace pricing trends.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years' related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Economics or Finance degree preferred. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information into concise, decision-oriented recommendations.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using qualitative and quantitative information to generate business insights.
