This will be a hybrid employment opportunity with work hours divided between remote (home) and office attendance. Preference will be given to candidates from Calgary AB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
In this role, you will be the definitive voice of the customer within your Agile team. You will own the product backlog, translate strategic roadmaps into actionable user stories, features and epics. Your scrum team will help you with this and do some of the writing when necessary and appropriate. You will partner closely with the engineers and developers to deliver high-quality features that continually add value and drive business growth.
Your key responsibility is to define and prioritize the functional requirements (what the product needs to do), ensuring the product delivers real world value and that the team's work aligns with customer and stakeholder needs. You must be able to effectively interact, understand, and communicate succinctly with engineers and software developers.
You will act as the voice of the customer within your agile team and work with the broader project and product management groups to prioritize work based on business goals. You will be expected to perform technical requirements analysis in order to understand operational market capabilities and product features based on stakeholder requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of technology, market trends and user needs. This is a customer facing role, and you may be called upon to interact with customers.
- Leads the continuous investigation, analysis, and management of the software backlog, applying independent professional judgment to scope features and map technological dependencies.
- Participating in sprint planning.
- Identifying risks and escalating risks when appropriate.
- Providing input into the product roadmaps.
- Providing clarity to the team by answering questions from developers during sprints and clarifying requirements.
- Attending agile ceremonies.
- Align with stakeholders both internal and external to drive product development.
- Directs the objective evaluation and quality inspection of completed software deliverables to validate successful implementation.
- Conducts stakeholder investigations and user-needs analysis to systematically diagnose gaps and map data telemetry into operational system enhancements.
- Help plan releases with the broader product management team when necessary.
- Bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that product development aligns with both technical feasibility and market needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At a minimum a diploma in a technical field or a bachelor's degree in science, technology, or engineering
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a software environment
- Must have a deep understanding of Agile Frameworks, Scrum practices, and the Product Development Life Cycle
- Proven history of stakeholder management, with the ability to act as a strategic liaison between executive business stakeholders and engineering teams
- Must have experience with agile product/project management software like Jira, Confluence, Linear, Azure DevOps, IBM RTC.
- Must have exceptional verbal and written skills to translate complex technical concepts into actionable user stories.
- Must have a proven track record of managing conflicting priorities and making data-backed decisions.
- Must have strong analytical capabilities to evaluate data and perform activates such as, but not limited to, gap analysis, needs analysis and requirements gathering.
- Must have the ability and confidence to make rapid product decisions and comfortably say "no" to stakeholders to safeguard product development.
- Must be eligible to attain a high-level Security Clearance (clean record checks) as per contract compliance.
- Previous military experience, or experience working with the military as a civilian employer/contractor is considered an asset.

COMPENSATION
- $108,240 - $155,760
- 5 weeks flexible paid vacation, PLUS an additional 1 week paid vacation during the Christmas holiday season. A total of 6 weeks paid vacation!
