Full Job Description
Overview

We9re looking for a Product Owner to join our Data Science and Analytics Solutions teams, working together with business stakeholders across all Business Units, to turn data into decisions. You9ll define and prioritize the roadmap, drive initiative deliverables, and adapt the strategy as the team learns and the business shifts. You are the translator between technical teams and business, communicating clearly and credibly with stakeholders at every level. Above all, you are passionate about building trusted relationships, leading with honesty, and defining the right work; separating what9s genuinely worth building from what only sounds good, and holding the team to measurable outcomes. Own value realization. Define measurable outcomes before delivery, then use adoption, results, feedback, and model monitoring to prioritize what to refine next.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate business questions into analytics requirements. Turn ambiguous business questions into clear, buildable requirements for dashboards and models, defining the metrics, dimensions, grain, and outcomes a developer can execute against, and keeping the team clear on the why.
  • Own and prioritize the backlog. Maintain a well-groomed, prioritized backlog, with defined outcomes and a definition of done that includes data quality and validation, so the team ships clean work every sprint.
  • Move ambiguous work forward. Guide initiatives from fuzzy ideas through discovery, delivery, and post-release refinement.
  • Drive the artifacts that make decisions traceable. Make sure each initiative leaves behind the documentation people rely on. Including problem statements, success measures, data sources, signoffs, and operations hand-offs.
  • Ground decisions in data. Use data to understand guests, store, and business needs and behaviors, and transform that knowledge into new datasets, metrics, and analytics features.
  • Ensure trusted, well-governed data. Partner with data engineering and governance to build data quality, shared metric definitions, lineage, and privacy into deliverables - so the insights the business relies on are accurate and reliable.
  • Build partnerships & keep processes consistent. Run intake, alignment, and clear status comms with business owners across the enterprise, balancing business impact, urgency, technical feasibility, data readiness, and capacity. Work with product owners to keep execution consistent across teams.
  • Champion AI and automation. Proactively champion AI, automation opportunities, and improvements across our products and processes, from embedding ML and GenAI into everyday decisions to automating manual work.
  • Drive delivery & launch readiness. Drive initiatives, sequencing increments that ship value along the way, shepherding UAT, launch readiness, and defect triage so releases land clean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation:

Starting pay range: $91,600-120,200. Actual pay may vary based on Casey9s assessment of the candidate9s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, and qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include local prevailing wages and internal equity. This position is eligible for an annual cash bonus based on company performance. Our full salary range for this role does extend beyond the typical hiring range listed, allowing team members the opportunity to continue to grow within the company.

Requirements
  • This position requires authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future. Casey9s will not provide sponsorship or employer support for applications or petitions for F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, J-1, or any other employment-based visa.
  • Bachelor9s Degree or equivalent work-related experience is required.
  • Five (5) years of direct work experience in product ownership. Certified in Scrum Product Ownership (CSPO), a plus.
  • Experience with Collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Mural, Aha, etc.).
  • Backlog & delivery discipline. You9ve spent time as a Product Owner - writing the stories engineers want to pick up, running a backlog that reflects the world as it is today (not last quarter), and keeping a scrum team out of the weeds. Jira and Confluence are second nature. Smartsheet9s doesn9t scare you. SAFe or scrum cadence is familiar territory.
  • Stakeholder & business partnership. Comfortable saying 4not this sprint4 without burning a bridge. You can write an exec status update with confidence, run a business-readiness meeting without scripts, and translate between business goals and engineering reality without losing either side.
  • Technical & systems mindset. You have experience working alongside engineering teams to deliver enterprise applications and understand how data, integrations, workflows, and user experiences come together across multiple systems.
  • The Casey9s fit. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation. Detail oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously. Passionate about the needs of the guest. Team oriented. Good at both planning and tactical execution. Collaborative and open to new ideas.

This role does not allow for 100% remote work. Qualified candidates must live within a daily commutable distance of Casey9s Store Support Center in Ankeny, IA and be willing to work onsite 5 days per week.
