Full Job Description
The Opportunity
Are you passionate about protecting people when it matters most? At AMA, our travel insurance products exist to ensure members have the right coverage and peace of mind every time they travel - from a weekend road trip to an international adventure. As AMA's Product Manager, Travel Insurance, you'll be accountable for the full lifecycle and commercial performance of AMA's travel insurance portfolio, including Travel Medical and Trip Cancellation products across individual, multi-trip annual, and group travel plan types.

This is a strategic, hands-on role where you'll own product strategy, financial performance, digital funnel growth, in-centre sales results across both Travel and Insurance Agency lines, and the end-to-end vendor relationship with Orion.

You'll be the central point of accountability for member-facing travel insurance outcomes - helping protect AMA members as they explore the world by ensuring they have access to appropriate coverage, clear product information, and a seamless purchase experience.

Working cross-functionally with Marketing, Digital Experience, Finance, Centre Performance, and external partners, you'll help deliver sustainable portfolio growth while keeping member value at the heart of every decision.

Who You Are
  • You're a strategic product leader who can translate market intelligence, member insights, and financial data into a clear multi-year product roadmap.
  • You're comfortable owning performance targets, budgets, forecasts, pricing recommendations, and product profitability.
  • You're a data-driven decision maker who knows how to interpret financial, digital, and operational metrics to uncover opportunities and solve problems.
  • You're passionate about member experience and understand how thoughtful product design, clear communication, and seamless channels help members feel protected when they travel.
  • You're a confident relationship manager who can hold external partners accountable while building productive, positive working relationships.
  • You're a collaborative leader who can influence without authority across Marketing, Digital Experience, Finance, Centre Performance, Legal, Compliance, and senior leadership.
  • You know how to coach, support, and develop others while keeping the broader business goals in focus.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Define and own the multi-year product strategy for AMA's travel insurance portfolio, aligned to AMA's growth, retention, and profitability objectives.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized product roadmap covering new product development, coverage enhancements, pricing adjustments, and channel improvements.
  • Own the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and P&L analysis for the travel insurance portfolio, including revenue, loss ratios, margin, and overall profitability.
  • Lead the annual pricing process for member-facing travel insurance products in collaboration with Orion and internal Finance partners.
  • Own conversion performance and optimization of the end-to-end digital sales funnel, ensuring a seamless member experience from quote initiation through to policy issuance.
  • Identify friction points in the digital journey and partner with Digital Experience to improve usability, reduce drop-off, and increase conversion through each stage of the funnel.
  • Directly manage the Travel Insurance Sales Manager, providing coaching, goal-setting, performance oversight, and professional development support.
  • Hold accountability for in-centre sales results across both Travel Insurance and Insurance Agency products, ensuring the channel delivers against revenue and member conversion targets.
  • Serve as AMA's primary relationship owner for Orion, managing the day-to-day partnership, overseeing contract compliance, and holding the vendor accountable to agreed-upon service levels and performance measures.
  • Review competitive analysis, industry trends, member feedback, NPS data, digital analytics, and claims trends to turn market intelligence into actionable product and channel decisions.
  • Partner with Marketing to deliver integrated go-to-market plans for new products, enhancements, and pricing changes - including campaign strategy, segmentation, channel mix, and launch timelines.
  • Present portfolio performance, financial results, competitive insights, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership on a regular basis.

What You Bring to the Table
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in product management, insurance, marketing, financial services, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or working within a travel insurance or P&C insurance environment is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience owning digital sales funnels and driving conversion performance.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships with accountability for performance and commercial outcomes, including pricing.
  • Prior people management experience is required.
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and digital analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • You'll also bring:
    • Strong understanding of digital product management principles, sales funnel analytics, and conversion optimization techniques.
    • Financial management skills, including P&L ownership, pricing analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial, digital, and operational data to drive sound decisions.
    • Advanced communication skills, including executive-level presentations, stakeholder influence, negotiation, and consensus-building.
    • Strong organizational and planning skills to support product development, vendor management, and channel performance.
    • General knowledge of travel insurance products, coverage structures, exclusions, and regulatory requirements in the Canadian P&C insurance market.
