Full Job Description
The E.W. Scripps Company is seeking a Product Manager who will be responsible for translating business needs into actionable product requirements and driving day-to-day execution within a cross-functional pod. This role focuses on the products behind Scripps Sports, with an emphasis on the AI and automation tools supporting the sports division. This role ensures initiatives are well-defined, properly tracked and delivered in a way that supports Scripps' broader transformation goals, acting as the connective tissue between business stakeholders, team partners, data and software engineering. The Product Manager should have an analytical mindset, with comfort digging into data to validate a hypothesis or size an opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Help translate business needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
  • Own the day-to-day management of your product's backlog in Atlassian (Jira), including writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritization.
  • Partner with engineering to plan sprints, track delivery progress and unblock issues as they arise.
  • Support tracking of milestones and impact, escalating risks or hygiene issues proactively.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements, validate assumptions and ensure what gets built actually solves the intended problem.
  • Help identify interdependencies between your initiatives and other pods' work, flagging conflicts early.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning and sequencing discussions, bringing data and user insight to prioritization conversations.
  • Communicate progress and blockers clearly to your Product Lead and stakeholders.
  • Build low-fidelity prototypes and mockups (e.g., Figma, wireframes) to validate concepts with stakeholders before committing engineering resources.
  • Use prototypes to pressure-test assumptions and surface edge cases.
  • Identify opportunities within your pod's initiatives where AI or automation could improve speed, quality or cost, and help scope them appropriately, and identify systemic solutions to the business problem.
  • Partner with the AI/architecture team to understand platform capabilities (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio) and translate them into practical product use cases.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Generally, 3+ years digital and product management experience or related field

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Experience in product management, software development, data engineering, or technical project coordination.
  • The ability to explain a technical tradeoff to a non-technical stakeholder and vice versa.
  • Basic familiarity with agile/scrum practices and tools like Jira or similar work-management platforms.
  • Experience with data analysis and interpreting performance metrics.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines including engineering, UX, and marketing.
