Full Job Description
About this opportunity

Kalkomey's LMS (Learning Management System) is how we build and deliver outdoor safety education, and it has two related but distinct halves: the internal course-authoring platform our content team uses to build certification courses, and the consumer-facing interactive courses - including game-like features - that deliver that education to learners. As Product Manager for the LMS squad, you'll oversee the product development of both. You'll partner closely with a small team of engineers, UX designers, illustrators and curriculum designers and report to the SVP of Product for the duration of a one-year contract engagement. Course launch deadlines are set externally and are beyond our control, so success in this role will be measured by how effectively you manage scope and resources to hit them.

Engagement details: This is a 1-year, full-time (or near full-time) contract engagement, not a permanent position. It's fully remote, with no state or provincial residency requirement.

What you'll do:
  • Own the roadmaps and manage the development of both the internal course-authoring platform and Kalkomey's consumer-facing interactive hunter safety course.
  • Partner with the content and curriculum team to understand their authoring workflow and translate their needs into clear product requirements.
  • Partner with engineering and design to design and ship consumer-facing interactive, game-like course experiences that improve learner engagement and completion.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to bring AI into both pillars - from AI-assisted content and course generation to personalized, adaptive learning experiences - partnering with engineering to ship them.
  • Define success metrics for each project and monitor product analytics on a regular cadence to guide roadmap decisions.
  • Collaborate with your Product Designer and Lead Engineer to build story maps, track delivery in our project management platform, and publish weekly project updates and release notes.
What you'll need:
  • 5+ years of product management experience, ideally spanning both internal/platform tools and consumer-facing digital products.
  • Proven experience owning product strategy and roadmap for at least one product or platform end-to-end, from opportunity identification through launch.
  • Strong project management skills - sequencing work and managing scope and resources through launch and iteration. This is a product management role, but with launch dates set externally and outside our control, project management discipline is what will most determine your success here.
  • Familiarity with LMS or CMS platforms and/or course-authoring tools such as Articulate 360.
  • A strong analytical mindset - comfortable defining KPIs, running experiments, and using data to guide roadmap decisions.
  • An AI-forward mindset: genuine curiosity about how AI can accelerate content creation and personalize learning experiences, with a clear point of view on where it helps and where it doesn't.
  • Comfort partnering directly with engineering and design without formal authority.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - you can translate complex needs into clear requirements and keep stakeholders informed without over-explaining.

Bonus points

  • A background in content strategy, instructional design, or educational content development.
  • Experience in product design, game design, or game development, particularly gamified or game-like learning mechanics.
  • Hands-on experience with Articulate 360, Captivate, or similar authoring tools.
  • A background in edtech, SaaS, or consumer-facing digital products.
  • A background in or genuine curiosity about the outdoors - our learners are hunters, anglers, boaters, and snowmobilers.
Competencies
  • Product Ownership - Owns roadmaps end-to-end across multiple product surfaces, from opportunity identification through launch and iteration, without requiring direction on prioritization.
  • Scope & Delivery Management - Sequences work, manages dependencies, and holds delivery against externally fixed deadlines. Treats project management discipline as a core part of the PM role, not a secondary function.
  • Stakeholder Communication - Translates complex product and technical concepts into clear requirements and updates for cross-functional partners. Keeps stakeholders informed without over-explaining.
  • AI-Forward Thinking - Actively identifies opportunities to bring AI into product workflows and learning experiences. Applies genuine judgment about where AI helps and where it doesn't.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Partners effectively with engineering, design, and curriculum teams without formal authority. Earns influence through clarity and follow-through.
  • LMS & EdTech Fluency - Understands course-authoring workflows and learning management systems well enough to translate content team needs into actionable product requirements.
