Position Summary

STERIS is investing in the future of healthcare automation by expanding its Reprocessing Automation business. As the Product Manager (Automation), you will play a key role in shaping the strategy, roadmap, and commercialization of innovative automation solutions that help healthcare customers improve efficiency, reduce non-value-added tasks, and optimize sterile processing workflows. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business within STERIS and help define the next generation of automation technologies, including robotics, software-enabled solutions, and intelligent workflow systems.

This role combines upstream and downstream product management responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on product strategy, market analysis, new product development, and portfolio planning. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, external development partners, and global stakeholders to identify market opportunities, guide product innovation, and bring new automation solutions to market.

The ideal candidate brings experience managing complex technology-based products that combine hardware and software components, with the ability to translate customer needs into scalable product strategies and business growth opportunities.

  • Location: This position is based in Mentor, Ohio with the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule. You will work onsite 3 days per week.
  • Travel: Domestic travel required, up to 25% of time. Some international travel may be required.


What You Will Do as Product Manager

Creates global marketing strategies and tactics with insight from Manager for the designated product line consistent with the business unit strategies and objectives and in support of achieving established revenue, margin, and market share goals and driving leadership positions in the market.
  1. Collaborate with sales and marketing leadership on the development/execution of action plans and new product launches including forecasting and financial planning/business case development; market potential/opportunity and target share; value proposition creation; competitive analysis and market trends; market pricing; product life cycle planning; product training.
  2. Develops detailed strategic road map for the development of product/business in alignment with strategic plan.
  3. Creates the marketing plan and assesses strength and sustainability of the strategic choices for designated product line.


Delivers product to market through strategic marketing, communications, promotions, training, and other effective methods in support of achieving the value proposition and future brand/product growth and sustainability.
  1. Drives strong two-way relationships with sales management that result in aligned marketing and sales planning and strategies.
  2. Collaborates with marketing communications team for effective product collateral and promotional materials.
  3. Collaborates with training specialists to develop training for sales and pertinent sales support staff. Delivers sales training and/or Customer presentations.


Utilizes detailed analysis techniques regarding market trends, segment sizes, growth opportunities, competitive landscape, feasibility, profitability, product/ positioning, Voice of the Customer, Customer insights, market environment, and other critical areas.
  1. Collects data and evidence to develop strategies that strengthen value propositions.
  2. Gathers insights across markets to determine similarities, develop archetypes.
  3. Supports and communicates cross-functionally to gather critical information and/or navigate challenges, including Customers, R&D, sales, quality, regulatory, finance, operations, etc.

Leads the creation and development of product position.
  1. Develops and establishes sustaining positioning for products/brands.
  2. Recommends and develops tactical initiatives that leverage unique Customer segments and needs to establish a competitive advantage.
  3. Prioritizes new product and lifecycle enhancements/management across products and markets that maximizes the value of the portfolio.


The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of product management, product marketing, or related business experience.
  • Experience developing and executing product strategies, business cases, and product roadmaps.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (approximately 25%).

Preferred
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience managing high-technology products, particularly solutions that integrate software, automation, robotics, connected systems, or advanced hardware platforms.
  • Product management experience within software, automation, robotics, materials management, logistics, manufacturing, industrial technology, healthcare technology, or related industries.
  • Experience working with third-party development partners, global suppliers, or external technology vendors.
  • Background in technical product management or software product management.
  • Experience commercializing new products in a highly regulated environment.
  • International business experience and experience supporting globally deployed products.
  • Healthcare, medical device, sterile processing, automation, or workflow optimization experience is helpful.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, sales, finance, and external partners to deliver product initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating market opportunities, customer needs, competitive landscapes, and product performance.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to effectively apply business acumen, including financial, market and industry trends, and market analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline driven environment.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications.

Pay range for this opportunity is $107,525.00 - $139,150.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation.

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.
