Job Description:

The Job/What You’ll Do:

As a Product Manager on the Billing Data team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering scalable, high-quality solutions that support AssetMark's advisory billing platform. Working cross-functionally with stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Compliance, you will lead product strategy and execution. Acting as the Product Owner, you will define and prioritize features while driving automation, operational efficiency, and platform modernization.

Successful candidates should be highly analytical, comfortable writing SQL, have history understanding data flows between systems, documenting data mappings, improving processes, and working independently to solve complex business problems.

We can only consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our Charlotte, NC office.

Responsibilities:

  • Own multiple features or a complex feature group (e.g., Portfolio Analytics or Model Library)
  • Define and design new features
  • Drive execution with engineering
  • Lead or co lead feature and prioritization meetings

Product Strategy & Roadmap:

  • Has a clear, strategically aligned agenda for the features they own
  • Maintains a shovel-ready backlog for their engineering team at least 2 sprints out
  • Maintains a high-quality roadmap at least a quarter out

Product Design, Development, & Execution:

  • Writes RFCs for feature enhancements and new features
  • Independently sketches first draft of user experience
  • Specifies the platform components required to power new features, including where existing vs new platform capabilities are required
  • Decomposes RFCs into actionable user stories, some of which may land outside their own team
  • Tracks team capacity and proactively manages priorities 1-2 sprints in advance
  • Follows our SDLC and finds ways to optimize their team to its use.
  • Able to run at least two feature-sized projects in parallel
  • Provides their engineers business context about their projects and serves as the first line of defense against distractions for their engineers
  • Uses data and analytics tools to inform decisions

Stakeholder & Ecosystem Engagement:

  • May own an internal stakeholder relationship
  • Builds credibility with internal stakeholders by helping them solve for their full outcomes, rather than limiting engagement to the “product part” of an issue
  • Can demo all features in their Pillar internally and, with advance notice, externally
  • Develops a working knowledge of players and developments in our space relevant to their product area
  • Manages stakeholder expectations by providing regular updates and ensuring alignment on timelines.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Lead feature planning and prioritization meetings
  • Articulates product requirements and decisions clearly to cross-functional teams
  • Capable of resolving minor team conflicts and maintaining positive momentum.
  • Assess junior product candidates in interviews

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Understanding of the end-to-end product development process from ideation to launch and iteration.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and working with cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Uses SQL to analyze production data, to triage errors, and validate requirements.
  • Understands data flows across systems, and maintains data mapping
  • Knowledge of how to conduct competitive analysis, user interviews, and usability testing.
  • Foundational understanding of systems architecture, APIs, databases, and software development processes (especially important for technical product managers).
  • Ability to define product vision, strategy, and create roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data (e.g., using SQL, Excel, or dashboards) to inform product decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with executives, customers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical skills for identifying problems and creating scalable solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, design, operations, marketing, and other stakeholders.
  • Capable of converting stakeholder input into clear, actionable product requirements.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and adjusting plans based on new information.

Education and Experience:

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $105,000-$122,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
