Description

PRODUCT MANAGER - ACCESSORIES When a hunter tags out on a bull elk at 400 yards, a competitive shooter posts a personal best, or the military has a successful mission, the ring and base system doesn't get the credit. But here's what we know: that shot doesn't happen without rock-solid, properly built, and properly installed mounting hardware. The riflescope only performs to its potential when it's sitting in the right rings, torqued to the right spec, on a base engineered for that exact platform. The accessories are the foundation, and right now, we're looking for the right person to guide the future of that foundation. That's the opportunity in front of you, and we want you to become part of our story!

The Role

As Product Manager for Accessories, you are the CEO of this segment. You own the full product lifecycle, from identifying gaps in the market, building the business case, guiding development, launch, sustainment, and sunset. You will manage rings, mounts, bases, and other riflescope accessories alongside our branded merchandise line.

This is not a hand-it-off role. You will be in the details. Specifically, you will:
  • Proactively manage the current and future success of the Nightforce Accessory and Merchandise product lines by maintaining a strategically sound and profitable mix of products
  • As the voice of the consumer throughout product development, maintain a precise understanding of the preferences and needs of hunters, competitive shooters, and professional users for accessories (Rings, Bases, Mounts, etc) and branded items
  • Listen objectively while gathering information to pinpoint consumer and market needs. Develops portfolio plans and product roadmaps accordingly.
  • Analyze the product life cycle of product families and individual SKUs based on consumer, customer, and market factors, and make recommendations accordingly
  • Work with Sales to develop strategic market pricing and demand probabilities for new products
  • Recommend market pricing, order quantities, and reorder thresholds for branded merchandise for direct to consumer sales
  • Work in conjunction with the other Product Managers and the Executive Team in prioritizing product development projects to drive the most impact for the company
  • Manage product development and launch timelines, develop launch plans, and provide accurate information to Marketing and Sales for proper launch strategies
  • Structure, maintain, and monitor project schedules and report status regularly
  • Maintain a database of market research to include competitive analysis, market sizing estimates, and consumer preference trend data

What Makes You Right For This

The ideal background for this role is someone already working in the shooting, hunting, or outdoor industry in a product, marketing, or technical capacity; someone who already speaks the language and understands the customer. That said, we'll seriously consider a seasoned Product Manager from another industry who has the technical aptitude to earn credibility with our development team quickly. You don't need to be an engineer, but you need to be able to follow technical conversation and contribute meaningfully.

Requirements

Specifically, you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or related field. Or equivalent years of experience in applicable roles.
  • 5 years of experience in a strategic marketing or product management role
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing product and portfolio level profitability, promotional profit/loss scenarios, and growth modeling
  • Ability to articulate the Nightforce Brand and explain the structure and positioning of Nightforce products
  • Demonstrated aptitude for strategic thinking, analytics, and problem-solving
  • Ability to participate in technical conversations with engineering personnel based on a fundamental understanding of design, manufacturing techniques, risk analysis, and tradeoffs
  • A highly collaborative style; able to work well in a team environment and achieve results without authority
  • Organized and focused with the ability to manage multiple product development projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with experience presenting to a variety of audiences
  • Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (or Google Suite)
  • Resilient character, superior customer service mentality, and high integrity in all business dealings

Preferred (but not required):
  • Experience with both accessory development and branded merchandise sourcing
  • Knowledge of the hunting, shooting, and outdoor industry
  • Experience managing a portfolio with limited-run items

What Success Looks Like Here

Effective Product Managers at Nightforce are trusted at every level of the organization. That trust is built through rigorous business analysis, deep product knowledge, and the ability to explain not just what you're doing but why. You are the go-to person for your product line; you know the SKUs, the pricing, the history, and the competitive landscape. When someone has a question, the answer comes from you.

You also influence without authority. You don't have a large direct team, but your line's success is a result of your collaboration with sales, engineering, marketing, and operations. That happens through building relationships, earning credibility, and your ability to frame decisions in terms of what matters to every audience.

A Word About Where We Are

This position is based in our Orofino, Idaho headquarters location. If the outdoors is part of how you live, not just something you do on vacation, you'll feel at home here pretty quickly. The Clearwater River is world-class steelhead water. The elk country surrounding Orofino is the same terrain our customers are glassing every fall and spring. There is no commute traffic. The community is full of genuine, down-to-earth people who care about their neighbors. Orofino offers a pace of life that is hard to find, and once people find it, they rarely want to leave.

However, Orofino is a rural location that requires a change of lifestyle for most new residents. Costco and Walmart are 50 minutes away. The housing market is competitive. Local options for shopping and restaurants are good, but limited. Orofino is not for everyone, but it is exactly the lifestyle many of our team are looking for!
