Job Description

We are looking for a talented Product Engineering Specialist to join our team in Eaton Cummins Joint Venture (ECJV): Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies in Galesburg, MI.

This role is an employee of the Eaton Cummins Joint Venture (ECJV): Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies. Internal candidates are defined as employees of the ECJV.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Lead Successful Product Development: Plan, coordinate, and execute product development activities from concept through production, ensuring technical, quality, cost, and timing objectives are achieved while proactively managing project risks.
  • Design Reliable Mechanical Systems: Apply strong mechanical engineering principles to develop robust system and component designs that meet customer requirements, industry standards, and performance expectations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Improve Product Reliability: Identify and mitigate potential failure modes through structured failure analysis, reducing product risk and enhancing durability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive Data-Based Engineering Decisions: Utilize modeling, simulation, and analytical tools to predict product performance, evaluate design alternatives, and support informed engineering decisions before physical validation.
  • Integrate Complex Systems Effectively: Manage interfaces across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and control systems to ensure seamless integration, proper functionality, and compliance with system requirements.
  • Solve Critical Product Challenges: Lead structured root cause investigations, implement corrective actions, and develop long-term solutions that prevent recurring issues and protect the customer experience.
  • Ensure Product Compliance and Validation: Develop verification and validation plans, assess test results, and confirm product capability meets defined requirements while supporting risk-based engineering decisions.
  • Collaborate Across Functions and Drive Results: Build strong relationships with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and business stakeholders to communicate effectively, manage complexity, and deliver successful product outcomes.


Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
  • High Pressure Die Cast Engineering Expertise: Strong knowledge of aluminum enclosure design, materials, manufacturing processes, and validation methods to deliver robust, cost-effective transmission components that meet performance and durability requirements.
  • Technical Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to lead complex investigations, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions to resolve product issues and improve transmission reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven capability to build strong partnerships with manufacturing, operations, supply chain, suppliers, customer engineering, and technical service teams to drive successful product development and launch outcomes.
  • Field and Customer Focus: Experience supporting field investigations and translating real-world product performance data into design improvements that enhance quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.
