Senior Product Engineer / Product Engineer - Detroit, MI
DUTIES:
• Design complex components and sub-systems for Heavy Machinery (Mining, Construction & Others).
• Lead design reviews, analysis and resolve technical design conflicts.
• Assess buildability, manufacturability and integration.
• Develop 3D model of machine designs in CAD environment
• Assist in establishing design completion dates.
• Responsible for Product integration or Vehicle integration
• Develop the Lube & Cooling system parts of the engine
• Conduct fit-up and testing at test sites and facilities.
• Develop solutions for CPI issues
• Proto build and Product validation Planning
• Conduct research and analysis to develop innovative design solutions for various products and projects
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and specifications
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed designs and models
• Perform feasibility studies and cost analysis to determine the most efficient and effective design approach
• Identify and troubleshoot any design issues or challenges that may arise during the development process
• Ensure that all designs meet industry standards and regulations
• Continuously evaluate and improve upon existing designs to enhance functionality, performance, and cost-effectiveness
• Communicate and present design concepts and progress to stakeholders, including management and clients
• Maintain accurate and organized design documentation
• Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and technologies to incorporate into design strategies
• Participate in testing and validation of designs to ensure quality and functionality
• Mentor and guide junior engineers in design principles and best practices
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials
• Adhere to project timelines and budget constraints
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering field, followed by 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience with mechanical engineering for Heavy Machinery, Large Engine & Power gen set. Experience must include:
• 5 years of experience with Computer-Aided Design & Engineering with expertise in tools and techniques such as Creo, Creo Simulate, Ansys, and engineering applications
• 5 years of experience in Product design & development (NPI, NPD, CPI), Thorough understanding of the full product lifecycle, Concept to product support and field support
• 5 years of experience, GD&T, DFMEA, VAVE & Tolerance stack up analysis, Cost Reduction
• 4 years of extensive experience creating detailed design documents for manufacturing - representations of complex products and systems graphically
• 3 years of experience in Lube and cooling systems (vibration, fluid dynamics, heat transfer), Structural design and analysis (FEA), Castings, Sheet metal & welded fabrications, Piping, Tubes, Hoses
• 3 years of experience in Prototype build support, Cross-functional systems integration, Engine components & Sub Systems
• 3 years of experience in Product Data Management using Teamcenter, other proprietary tools such as EDS, HVC
• 2 years of experience in Product service engineering, effectively resolving technical issues
• 2 Years of experience, developing organizational standards and processes
• 2 years of experience, solid grasp of FEA theory, material failure criteria, and structural mechanics
• 2 years of experience in Supplier collaboration & Material Selection, APQP, PPAP
TELEWORK: May be authorized for f/t or p/t telecommuting with authorization from manager and HR
TRAVEL: Up to 10% domestic travel to client locations as needed
BASE SALARY RANGE: $125,362.00 to $135,362 per year. Regional salary adjustments for CA, CO, NY and WA states are base + 20% - 30%.
