Position Summary:

Develops a product knowledge expertise for assigned area of responsibility. Plans and performs engineering work in developing and/or improving product, processes and/or systems. Assignments are of substantial variety and complexity and require applying engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while also using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Independently develops clear and specific objectives for given assignments that may require the investigation of a several alternative solutions. Develops thoughts and ideas into engineered solutions with appropriate review and collaboration of other subject matter experts. Provides direction and guidance to co-ops, technicians, engineers and other team members. Effectively participates in a team setting to achieve results. Ability to utilize project management methods to effectively lead moderate to large projects assignments. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of functional area as part of a cross-functional project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership, service and support for product development and improvement.
• Interpret customer's needs, assesses requirements, and identifies solutions.
• Assess, create and facilitate the application of best practices and standards to drive operational results.
• Lead manufacturing project teams to achieve results and ensure successful implementation into plant operations.
• Develop work plans, estimates, schedules and resources to drive timely project completion.
• Utilize methodical thinking and analytical problem solving skills for processing troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects utilizing engineering best practices such as:
  • Design of Experiments and Disciplined Problem Solving
  • Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Lean Manufacturing principles and variation reduction tools
• Project Management methodologies
• Ability to foster relationships internally and externally to facilitate effective project communication.
• Incorporates internal and external business issues in solution development process.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Required:

• BS degree in Engineering plus appropriate continuous training
• 3-5 years relative work experience
• Skills:
• Some formal exposure to areas outside own department
• Recognized as a resource in areas of expertise.
• Ability to solve complex problems and complete multiple projects, using advanced problem-solving methods to make decisions
• Applies proven technology independently
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong computer and typical office software skills
• Experienced with developing and achieving future state plans and leading others in change initiatives
• Desire for additional responsibilities in technical or manufacturing leadership

Preferred:

• FEA or CFD experience including non-linear and multi-body analysis is preferred
• Analyst software experience and formal training in the following: ANSYS Mechanical, ABAQUS, Fluent, FloWorks or DesignSpace
