Group Summary:

The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:

  • B.S. in Engineering or Technical Degree.
  • In special circumstances, candidates who have not met the required education, but have substantial manufacturing work experience that is applicable to the job may be considered.
  • Must have the ability to read blueprints, understand and sketch 3D drawings.
  • Must have good math, written, and verbal skills.
  • Must have good computer skills.
  • Must have the basic understanding of SPC, control charting, and capability studies.
  • Must have a forklift operator's license.
  • Preferred- Three years at technician level position in manufacturing with closely related experience to the "Essential Functions." One year continuous work experience.
  • Preferred- Past job duties requiring problem solving, computer applications and following technical instructions.
  • Assists Program Engineers with troubleshooting part improvements for fit, function, and appearance.
  • Provides program support when Program Engineer is not available due to travel/vacation, etc.
  • Analyzes data and recommends actions based on capability reports.
  • Represents Nascote engineering at tool shops, and assembly plants upon request of engineer.
  • Assist in the manufacture of prototype and pre-production parts including AAR parts.
  • Provides support for customer program tracking and change control, such as Ford G.P.I.R.S., W.E.R.S., and E.A.S.I. computer based systems, along with GM's PPPS system within GM Supply Power.
  • Assists Program Engineers with Tool Pictures and data entry for customer databases.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of BOM.
  • Assist with updating Program Status Reports.
  • Initiate and maintain specific process flow diagrams.
  • Review, interpret and summarize statistical data as requested.
  • Must be competent in and utilize AIAG "Core Tools"
  • Assist in new product quotations.
  • Writes, tracks, and dispositions V.I.D.'s.
  • Communicate/Network with all processes/departments to relay pertinent pre-production information.
  • Assist in creating standards for the plant.
  • Initiates shipping requests, completes customer required shipping documents, packages or coordinates packaging of sample parts, packaging and tooling.
  • Maintains inventory of prototype purchased components and assemblies.
  • Inspect purchased components for builds prior to saleable. Record results in receiving inspection folders.
  • Assist QE in creating blue dot checklists as well as assisting with blue dot inspection.
  • Assists with verification of conformance of supplier packaging.
  • Assist with writing deviations.
  • Assist with writing ECN's.
  • Maintain log of shipments.
  • Ensures the Engineering department is acting in the safest manner possible - Conducts monthly safety audits.
  • Maintains an acceptable attendance record and works overtime as required.
  • Assists in the trouble shooting for manufacturing problems.
  • Participates in improvement teams, concern resolution reports (8D) and other formal problem solving and improvement activities. Takes a leadership role in many cases.
  • Participates in department initiatives - e.g. business plan development / execution, procedure development, QOS.
  • Participates in department meetings.
  • Completes documentation of activities as required.
  • Submits cost reduction and innovation ideas.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
