Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following, however other duties may be assigned.
  • Complete design and development tasks that aid in the successful transition of R&D projects to products.
  • Perform configuration management duties of Midé's various product lines in conjunction with Quality Management personnel
  • Review and update existing design documentation and BOMs as necessary or as dictated by ECO/ECR requirements and/or ISO requirements
  • Generate and maintain product level drawing packages, layouts and technical requirements based on product line requirements and in accordance with various restrictions such as ITAR, EAR, SBIR, Proprietary and Confidential restrictions
  • Work with production and quality teams to generate and maintain manufacturing process documentation to ensure proper manufacture and quality control
  • Participate in design and drawing reviews, with a focus on DFM/DFA, proper tolerancing, BOM structuring, manufacturing methods, etc.
  • Collaborate frequently with Mechanical, Electrical, and Software engineering teams, as well as Quality, Production, and Customer Support
  • Plan, conduct, and document tests on finished products for quality purposes and recommend changes to product specifications, as necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a US person (citizen or permanent resident)
  • High technical aptitude for design, analysis, fabrication, tesjjtng and repair mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience in dimension, tolerances, and GD&T standards such as ASME Y14.5-2018
  • Very good software skills with appropriate tools, including:
  • At least one solid modeling platform (SolidWorks preferred with PDM / DDM experience)
  • At least one detailed part drawing platform
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Expertise in at least one PLM software package, such as Design Data Manager (DDM)
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing/Machining Processes and Design for Manufacture
  • Basic statistical knowledge to support the generation and application of Statistical Process Control data
  • Experience with guiding ECOs/ECRs, and gaining consensus with affected stakeholders
  • Experience generating and executing test plans, including environmental stress testing, vibration/shock testing, and product functional testing
  • Ability to self-manage time across multiple projects
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including experience performing root cause analysis on complex systems
  • Excellent cognitive scientific reasoning ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both technical and interpersonal conversations

BONUS SKILLS

Knowledge in any of the below areas is a plus, but not required:
  • Familiarity with DDM PLM software
  • Experience in the field of NVH, including working with accelerometers, performing shock and vibration testing, and analyzing shock and vibration data
  • Experience with part inspection / metrology
  • Experience in the design, manufacture, or use of commercial or military ship hardware/structures, including knowledge of appropriate materials for marine environments
  • Experience leading projects
  • Familiarity with ITAR and EAR restrictions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • BSE (ME, or similar) required
  • At least 5 years of experience in a product engineering, sustaining engineering, or manufacturing engineering role
  • Familiarity with operating in an ISO 9001 environment
