Duties:
Represent HORIBA's Sulfur-In-Oil Division products to customers through knowledge in electronics, mechanics, chemistry, and physics to drive technical sales, optimize product applications, troubleshoot issues, and deliver impactful laboratory demonstrations, in-house and at client sites (w/in commuting distance of worksite).
Collaborate across Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Support, and QA teams to assess client requirements for combustion and X-ray analyzers; promote solutions from project initiation and design through implementation, testing, and delivery; interface with prospective buyers on-site (w/in commuting distance of worksite) to present samples or catalogs and communicate product pricing, availability, and advantages.
Apply technical expertise with HORIBA products, including voltmeters and oscilloscopes, to explain technical concepts, drive sales, demonstrate products, and resolve issues with combustion and X-ray analyzers.
Perform analytical and wet chemistry tasks, including mixing solutions, preparing dilutions, and formulating analytical standards to calibrate instruments, analyze samples, validate results/agreements, and present system performance data.
Conduct concentration-dependent analyzer evaluations to verify customer applications and recommend products tailored to specific needs, EPA requirements, and budget constraints.
Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering, physics, and chemistry to operate X-ray fluorescence and combustion analyzers following product manuals, principles, parts lists (Bills of Materials), electrical diagrams, and equipment blueprints, including drawings with computer-aided design software-CAD/CAM or similar tools.
Support X-ray and combustion technology customers by applying ASTM methods (e.g., D4294, D7220, D7039, D2622, D4929) and other relevant methods for sulfur, nitrogen, and chloride when submitting data to the EPA. Participate in ASTM technical committees to evaluate measurement methodologies. Knowledge of ASTM methods may include applications beyond sulfur in hydrocarbons.
Evaluate industry competition, monitor advancements in engineering and manufacturing techniques, and recommend products that align with customer needs, regulatory standards (incl. ASTM and EPA), and budget requirements. Utilize advanced statistical tools (Design to Product Performance preferred) and perform mathematical analyses to construct data models for calibration and interpretation, identify trends using curve fitting and equations, and ensure compliance with ASTM/EPA standards.
Leverage ServiceMax (or similar) to manage equipment service history and recommend repairs; use SAP (ERP) for pricing and order tracking; utilize Salesforce (or related platforms) for market and business analysis; and employ Microsoft Office Suite (incl. Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) to organize sample results, graph data sets, create presentations, and manage
product samples.
