Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and evaluate golf ball technologies by conducting research related to product performance, materials, construction, aerodynamics, manufacturing processes, and consumer performance.
  • Fabricate, test, and analyze new golf ball formulations and prototypes using R&D equipment to understand material behavior and product performance.
  • Support product development projects from concept through commercialization by documenting technical findings, maintaining project timelines, and communicating progress to project teams.
  • Partners with prototyping, manufacturing, and testing teams to optimize fabrication processes, including rubber mixing, compression molding, injection molding, surface preparation, and paint application.
  • Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing and product performance issues by applying sound engineering and scientific principles.
  • Participate in evaluating new materials, technologies, equipment, and manufacturing methods that support product innovation.
  • Perform laboratory testing, data collection, statistical analysis, and technical evaluations to support product development decisions.
  • Develop product specifications and support engineering documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), technical reports, and test methods.
  • Support the implementation of new testing methods and collaborate with external vendors on research and development initiatives.
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to successfully launch new products.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and overall product performance.
  • Maintain organized technical documentation and project records throughout the product development process.


Technical Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
  • Working knowledge of engineering principles, product development methodologies, and scientific testing techniques.
  • Experience applying the engineering design process to develop, evaluate, and improve product performance.
  • Ability to analyze technical data and recommend solutions to engineering and product challenges.
  • Experience conducting laboratory testing and interpreting experimental results.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis software such as MATLAB, Minitab, JMP, or similar analytical tools is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and build productive working relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Knowledge of polymer materials, product manufacturing processes, or sports equipment development is preferred.


Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Statistics, or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development, engineering, materials research, manufacturing engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience supporting new product development projects from concept through commercialization is preferred.
  • Experience with prototype development, laboratory testing, data analysis, and manufacturing process optimization is preferred.
  • Experience in sports equipment, consumer products, advanced materials, or related manufacturing industries is desirable.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT (if applicable)
  • Work is performed in a designated professional office workstation and environment.
  • Extensive use of laboratory and office equipment to include computers, testing robots, universal testing machines, etc.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally exposed to excessive noise, dust, fumes, and chemicals while in R&D labs.
  • Occasionally required to travel domestically and/or internationally.
