The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team.

The role can be located in the San Francisco Bay Area or New York City.

As a Product Counsel, you will advise Product and Engineering teams on a broad range of legal issues supporting the development and launch of consumer-facing products and features, including in areas such as AI, privacy, and consumer protection. You will work closely with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, as part of a Legal & Public Policy team that values practical problem-solving, teamwork, and humor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel on new and evolving consumer products and features, including guidance on AI, privacy, consumer protection, and related regulatory considerations.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to help identify legal risks early and enable responsible, efficient product development.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally within Legal & Public Policy and with partners across Product, Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, Finance, and other teams.
  • Draft and review clear, consistent disclosures, terms and other agreements, and in-product communications to support informed choices by members and customers.
  • Help document legal guidance, contribute to playbooks, and support scalable and efficient legal processes.
  • Stay current on legal and policy developments relevant to social media platforms and emerging technologies, and translate those developments into practical, actionable guidance.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues inside and outside of Legal and contribute positively to team culture.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
  • J.D. and admission to practice law in applicable jurisdiction.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working at a technology company or advising technology clients.
  • Experience collaborating with Product and Engineering teams and communicating legal guidance to non-legal partners.
  • Experience working on commercial deals or technology transactions.
  • Familiarity with AI, privacy, and/or consumer protection laws and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with payments systems, laws, and regulations, including laws related to subscriptions.
  • CIPP certification (Privacy and/or AI) a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, sound legal and business judgment, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.

The pay range for this role is $123,000 to $200,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
