Applications Engineer is an integral team member of the Southborough, MA team, ensuring that we're supporting customers and managing the portfolio effectively to facilitate growth. Working with key stakeholders, this role is responsible for supporting business growth strategies and their performance for specific product portfolios. You will support the sales team with the creation and successful conversion of key NBOs (New Business Opportunities).
This is a fully onsite position located at our Southborough, MA office. Candidates are expected to work from the office Monday-Friday. - Serve as expert technical support for all sales channels (direct, independent reps and distributors).
- Evaluate and determine power supply solutions and technical issues directly with customers throughout North America.
- Be able to thoroughly evaluate and document load characteristics of a supplied customer's equipment in our in-house lab, to present the best power supply solution.
- Provide detailed expert technical and application support to customers for power supply products
- Communicate directly with Asian manufacturing partners with regards to customer requirements, failure analyses, new product introductions, and other product issues.
- Create and maintain product datasheets, safety agency report and files, schematic and PCB layouts, Design Verification Test reports, customer modification files, and other technical documentation.
- Be familiar with power supply specific safety standards (EN60601-1, EN62368-1), EMC standards like (EN55011, EN55032) including immunity standards like EN61000-x-y requirements.
- Conduct modifications in our lab, on power supplies from our inventory for customer evaluations.
- Perform various lab measurements and modifications if needed, related to sales and customer requirements.
- Perform fault analysis down to the component level for power converters up to 1KW. Be familiar with the industry standard 8D report in order to respond formally to customers.
- Identify opportunities, provide solutions by offering alternative products, guide product line extensions, and conduct pricing analysis to facilitate increased profitability.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes- Bachelor's degree in Electric Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
- Power supply experience of at least 2 years, which is essential to assist your understanding of the market and associated drivers for this role.
- Capability to support customers with Power Supply Application requirements , effectively take the customer requirements to a clear product specification and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Enjoy working in an agile business environment which has the combination of technical, commercial and product compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple inputs and competing deadlines.
- Good project management and communication skills to deliver the project on time, on quality and on cost.
