Full Job Description
Primary Purpose:

This role acts as the critical link between our Sales organization and Production. The Production Planning Manager partners with our sales organization to identify future customer demand and translate it into a realistic production/strategic plan for our AGNA & Solar business.

Essential Functions:
  • Monitor and project overall inventories, shipment levels and production output at AGNA and Solar facilities to recommend draw rate changes and/or policy crushing recommendations as appropriate to maintain necessary stock levels.
  • Develop stock build plans for hot or cold repairs to ensure adequate stock coverage throughout the duration of the repair.
  • Oversee forecast aggregation for tint glass campaigns and work with plant production schedulers to make sure appropriate production schedules are created.
  • Work to establish and maintain thorough working knowledge of all components of scheduling processes and systems.
  • Check stock levels and sales data at regular and appropriate intervals to notice unusual trends and/or potential stock out situations.
  • Produce an 18-month forecast for AG domestic and export sales (by product group, thickness, tint, and plant) to be used in the long-range production plans (at budget time and on a quarterly basis throughout the year).
  • Produce long range production plans utilizing the dedicated system for the annual budget and other times through the year as needed (minimum of once per quarter). Outputs should include total inventory levels, product inventory levels, available capacity, and synchronous transition schedule for all lines.
  • Review production plans with the plant leadership teams to make sure there is nothing planned that appears problematic or not achievable.
  • Communicate with all business stakeholders (Regional Sales Managers, Internal CSRs, local production teams, regional planning, procurement etc.) at the appropriate frequency to keep them apprised of the current schedule and any changes that may directly affect them or their customers.
  • Communicate the current schedule and relevant changes to raw materials planning stakeholders at a regular and appropriate frequency so raw material planning and procurement can adequately plan purchases and arrivals.
  • Monitor usage of non-saving days, making sure they are properly classified and used for productive purposes.
  • Ensure plant schedulers are utilizing and maintaining the standard size list at their respective plants. Assist in determining ABC classification for new products and/or sizes as needed.
  • Facilitate new products moving through the CMP from a planning perspective helping to identify necessary planning roadblock.
  • Monitor interplant shipments to ensure alignment with budget/forecast expectations.
  • Assist Customer Service in determining shipping plant where common inventory exists.
  • Assist the plants to schedule through unusual events such as Force Majeure etc.
  • Hold meetings between plants as appropriate to ensure accurate and timely information is shared so that we are all moving in the same direction.
  • Lead AG S&OP meetings for the NA SBU.
  • Complete monthly and ad hoc reporting as needed/requested and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Look for opportunities to improve current ERS and Excel Planning Tools, including AI initiatives
  • Maintain strong working relationships with commercial, raw material procurement, regional leadership, plant materials and customer service teams.
  • Maintain ecommerce master data
  • Maintain SAP & BI data related to new material characteristics, derivation rules, sales reporting and other areas of business support as needed.
  • Plan and facilitate any production transfers as necessary

Qualifications Required:

  • SAP Production Planning and/or Materials Management module experience
  • 6 Sigma or Green Belt Certification
  • Knowledge of float glass production.
  • Production Scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting with a minimum of 1 year experience
