Job Description:

If you are a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in retail IT systems, supplier strategy, and complex negotiations, this role offers the opportunity to shape how Shell Mobility Canada sources, governs, and scales the technologies that power our retail network, customer experience, payments, loyalty, and digital growth.

Where you fit in

As Procurement Manager - Retail IT, internally known as SC Commercial Lead - Mobility, you will lead sourcing, contracting, and supplier strategy for the technologies that support Shell Mobility Canada's retail network and customer experience. The portfolio spans digital and retail technology procurement, including retail site systems, payments, loyalty, CRM, mobile apps, digital marketing platforms, and emerging technology solutions.

This is a strategic individual contributor role that works closely with Marketing, IT, Operations, Finance, Legal, and global procurement teams to deliver commercial value, manage supplier risk, and support secure, scalable digital growth.

Why this role matters: Shell Mobility Canada is continuing to modernize the customer and site experience through digital, data, payments, loyalty, and retail technology capabilities. This role helps ensure those investments are commercially sound, technically scalable, secure, and structured to deliver measurable value.

This role follows Shell's hybrid working model, with a combination of office-based collaboration and remote/mobile working, while maintaining close partnership with Canadian Mobility stakeholders.

What's the role

Contracting & Procurement is expected to deliver competitive, risk-based value while supporting innovation, speed to market, and responsible supplier governance. This role requires commercial discipline, comfort with digital change, and the ability to shape sourcing strategies that balance value, risk, scalability, and user experience.

You will lead the commercial strategy for a complex digital technology portfolio, combining strong sourcing and contracting skills with practical digital and IT fluency. The role requires the ability to align Marketing, IT, Operations, Finance, Legal, and suppliers around secure, scalable, and value-based outcomes.

As the portfolio evolves, this role will help move procurement from buying digital systems to shaping a data-driven, AI-enabled retail ecosystem.

What you'll be doing

Key accountabilities include:
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies across POS, loyalty, CRM, mobile apps, payments, retail systems, and digital marketing technologies that deliver measurable value, risk reduction, and improved speed to market.
  • Negotiate and contract complex commercial agreements, including SaaS pricing, service levels, performance measures, cybersecurity requirements, implementation obligations, and data ownership terms.
  • Evaluate suppliers on commercial value, technical fit, integration complexity, scalability, financial resilience, roadmap alignment, and lock-in risk.
  • Partner with Marketing, IT, Operations, Finance, Legal, and global procurement teams to translate business needs into sourcing decisions that support growth, reliability, security, and customer experience.
  • Manage supplier performance through clear governance, KPI tracking, commercial levers, issue escalation, and roadmap alignment tied to business outcomes.
  • Support future-ready sourcing in areas such as AI-enabled personalization, data strategy, agile pilots, payment innovation, and retail media monetization.

Dimensions
  • Scope covers Canadian Mobility digital and retail technology sourcing.
  • Success depends on influencing stakeholders across IT, Marketing, Network, Finance, Legal, and global category teams.
  • The role has no direct reports but requires strong indirect leadership across internal teams and suppliers.
  • The role supports both value delivery and innovation, including early-stage digital initiatives and new commercial models.

Special Challenges
  • Balancing the priorities of multiple stakeholders while delivering commercially strong, practical, and scalable sourcing outcomes.
  • Managing a fast-changing digital ecosystem with interdependent vendors, increasing data complexity, and high reliability expectations.
  • Addressing digital risk, including cybersecurity, payment security, privacy, and governance, while still enabling innovation.

What you bring

Must-have qualifications:
  • 7+ years' experience in procurement, sourcing, or commercial roles across IT, SaaS, digital platforms, fuel retail, or adjacent sectors in Canada.
  • Proven experience developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver value, manage risk, and support business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex digital or technology contracts, including pricing, service levels, supplier obligations, cybersecurity, data, and performance terms.
  • Strong digital and IT fluency, including practical understanding of SaaS, cloud environments, APIs, integration, and vendor architecture assessment.
  • Ability to align commercial, technical, and operational stakeholders and translate business needs into practical sourcing decisions.
  • Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead through ambiguity and indirect influence.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in business, supply chain, technology, or a related field; procurement accreditation such as PMAC or similar is an asset.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of fuel retail or mobility technologies such as POS, payments, loyalty, CRM, mobile apps, and site systems.
  • Awareness of data ownership, privacy, cybersecurity, payment security, AI-enabled capabilities, agile sourcing, and supplier ecosystem design.
  • Experience working across Marketing, IT, Operations, Finance, Legal, and global category or procurement teams.

You do not need experience in every technology listed. We are looking for a commercially strong procurement professional who can quickly understand digital business needs and structure supplier relationships that enable value, resilience, and responsible growth.
