In this position, you will be supporting the Weapon Systems (WS) Business in Louisville, KY.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- This Senior Buyer role will support the Outside Process purchases for the Weapon Systems programs, based in Louisville, KY
- In charge of identifying, qualifying, and onboarding global suppliers with consideration of achieving the sector offset targets and other business objectives
- Demonstrate technical capability in order to communicate effectively with design / component engineering on quality improvement topics and cost reduction / design change opportunities both internally and within the supply base
- Exhibit good interpersonal skills in order to grow supplier relationships in order to support our business needs
- Identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to introduce new and innovative technologies and processes to improve margins and service delivery
- Monitor and evaluate global markets trends, intervene to manage/mitigate the impact of supply shortfalls or price adjustments, or market opportunities
- Responsible for leading and implementing long-term strategic projects and executing long-term strategic supplier agreements
- Drives strategic initiatives, manages and fully executes the RFQ process, analyzes supplier bids and makes sourcing decisions
- Development of long-term agreements (LTA), negotiations and the creation of an LTA purchase order along with compliance sign off, all resulting in superior cost, quality and supplier's ability to deliver on time (capacity)
- Development of suppliers approved for quote while collaborating with program and category teams
- Identify second sources in order to enhance BAE Systems position
- Enhance and strengthen supplier relationships
- Further the development and implementation of long-term strategic projects and engage in a high degree of collaboration and communication with commodity managers, tactical buyers and other integrated supply chain areas
- Ability to analyze forecasted data and suppliers bids
- Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduction of cost
- Ensure appropriate cost or price analysis is performed to determine the reasonableness of the suppliers bid or to develop a negotiation position to ensure that all compliance documentation requirements are met
- Responsible for the prompt closeout of completed orders.
- Responsible for total supplier performance throughout the life cycle of procured materials and services.
- Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
- Shares responsibility of self-development with immediate supervisor.
Required Skills and Education- Bachelor's Degree and 4 years work experience or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience with purchasing multiple commodities
- Experience with reading and interpreting schematics and component drawings
- Experience working with cross-functional teams
- Experience utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel)
- Working knowledge with developing RFQ/RFP, contracts, preparing financial analysis, negotiations, and PO documentation
- Working knowledge of engineering requirements, terms, and blueprints
- Ability to manage data, analytics, and reporting in ERP
