About the Role

As a Process Quality Engineer, you will drive the strategic direction of front-end wafer quality across the local site and Micron's global organization. You will support the development and execution of strategies that enable future technology requirements while ensuring robust contamination control across the fab environment.

You will actively monitor, assess, and reduce airborne and surface contamination risks to protect wafer quality, yield, and reliability. Working closely with process, facilities, equipment, and integration teams, you will investigate contamination-related issues, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence. You will also evaluate contamination risks associated with new materials, processes, and technologies, ensuring effective controls are in place to support successful technology development and manufacturing.

  • Support the development and execution of contamination control programs for Fab4 manufacturing operations.
  • Apply data-driven and AI-enabled methods to develop, automate, and track risk-based solutions.
  • Partner with Process Shift, Process Equipment Engineering, Facilities, and Manufacturing teams to identify and resolve contamination-driven yield and quality issues.
  • Analyze contamination monitoring, metrology, and process data to detect trends, drive root-cause investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct studies and experiments to evaluate the impact of particles, AMC, metals, and chemical contaminants on wafer yield, reliability, and product quality.
  • Apply statistical methods and process control techniques to monitor contamination performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with global Micron sites to benchmark contamination control best practices and deploy Best Known Methods (BKMs).
  • Work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to evaluate and implement new contamination monitoring technologies, and contamination mitigation solutions.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on contamination reduction, defect prevention, product quality, and manufacturing excellence.
  • Present technical findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to engineering teams, stakeholders, and leadership to drive informed decision-making.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
    • Materials Science and Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Chemistry
    • Or a related science or engineering discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes through coursework, internships, research, or co-op experience.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools such as JMP, Python, MATLAB, Excel, or similar analytical software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership through academic projects, internships, student organizations, or extracurricular activities.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship, co-op, research, or laboratory experience in semiconductor manufacturing, materials characterization, contamination control, or process engineering.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process areas such as photolithography, etch, thin films, CMP, wet clean, metrology, or process integration.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, design of experiments (DOE), or statistical process control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with contamination analysis techniques and analytical instrumentation.
  • Interest in manufacturing startup environments and large-scale technology deployment.
