Process Manager Operations - Grind Table & Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
This Process Manager role is responsible for the operational performance and continuous improvement of the Grind Table/inspection stations, all NDT processes, and gauge room management within Fairfield Tubular Operations. The position is responsible for ensuring these processes consistently meet customer, regulatory, and quality requirements, while maximizing throughput, reliability, and product quality.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the site's technical authority for NDT processes, equipment applications and inspection standards.
• Ensure NDT systems are properly configured, calibrated, and optimized to consistently meet customer specifications, quality requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Analyze inspection data, process trends, and quality metrics to identify opportunities for process improvement, defect reduction, and increased productivity.
• Partner with Quality and assist in investigations of NDT-related quality issues, customer complaints, and process deviations, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop and maintain calibration and verification programs for NDT systems (e.g., probes, reference standards, encoders, and gauges), ensuring traceability to required standards.
• Monitor and improve key NDT performance indicators, including inspection accuracy, false call rates, throughput, defect detection effectiveness, and process capability.
• Coordinate qualification, validation, and certification activities for NDT equipment, procedures, and personnel as required.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new product development initiatives involving NDT technologies and inspection capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements associated with the Grind Table and NDT operations.
• Conduct periodic audits to ensure inspection system capability and compliance
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in NDT, quality, manufacturing operations, or process engineering within a steel manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of NDT methods, equipment, inspection standards, and process control principles.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and drive process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Experience analyzing production and quality data to improve product quality and operational performance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and project management capabilities.
• Provide guidance during complex troubleshooting
