Full Job Description
The Opportunity

The Process Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for leading and managing all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance activities within the process plant to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation. This role oversees maintenance planning, execution, reliability monitoring and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The superintendent provides leadership to maintenance supervisors, planners, engineers, trades personnel, and contractors to drive equipment reliability and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through visible leadership and adherence to company safety standards and procedures.
  • Establish tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures
  • Direct Supervisors and other staff in daily activities; inspect tasks and projects in progress and upon completion to ensure quality of work
  • Oversee and recommend the selection of key staff
  • Work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement disciplinary procedures and recommend terminations; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary
  • Develop, plan, and coordinate the work plan for assigned projects and responsibilities, which may include project management, cost estimates and program development; coordinate work with other units and site departments
  • Evaluate infrastructure, facilities and operating systems for needed maintenance and repair
  • Ensure coordination with operations, planning, supply chain, consultants and contractors to minimize production disruptions
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies that maximize equipment reliability and plant availability while reducing costs.
  • Manage preventive, predictive, corrective, shutdown and capital maintenance programs and projects.
  • Assist in the selection of a CMMS and ensure work management processes are effectively utilized.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), root cause analysis (RCA), and failure analysis techniques.
  • Develop and manage annual maintenance operating and capital budgets.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and critical equipment strategies.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, KPI dashboards, and performance reviews.
  • Participate in audits and inspections as required.
  • Perform other duties as required

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred; High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industrial operations.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a maintenance leadership or superintendent role.
  • Experience maintaining fixed plant equipment such as:
    • Crushers
    • Grinding mills
    • Conveyors
    • Dust handling
    • Slurry pumps and piping
    • Thickening and filtration systems
    • Roasters or autoclaves (preferred)
    • ADR
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience building and leading large maintenance teams and directing contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets and shutdown planning.
  • Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, Pronto, or Oracle.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, direct and manage a diverse number of operational areas, projects and activities
  • Ability to develop and maintain employee awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards required

Requirements
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam(s).
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be periodically required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include 12-hour rotating day/night shifts over holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift moderately heavy objects, climb a ladder and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
