Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a
Process Engineering Supervisor to join our Water & Wastewater team in Markham/Mississauga, ON. This is a unique opportunity to step into a leadership role while delivering high-profile municipal wastewater and water infrastructure projects that support the growth and environmental stewardship of communities across Ontario.
With your experience in municipal wastewater and water treatment, you bring strong technical expertise in process evaluation, design, equipment integration, project delivery, and commissioning. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, partner with clients and regulators, and work alongside AECOM's local and national wastewater specialists to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.
Your day could include any of the following:Leadership: Encourage collaboration across teams, business lines, and regions; actively mentor and develop staff, promoting technical leadership; lead technical solutions for major projects and pursuits.
Technical Excellence: Engage with global water leaders to stay updated on wastewater trends; connect with clients and global technical experts to address treatment challenges; seek opportunities for team involvement in large-scale global projects.
Team Development: Coach and mentor staff within the team and broader business; broaden wastewater expertise and introduce new skills; recruit top talent aligned with business objectives and culture; maximise employee potential through continuous development.
Business Development: Represent and promote the AECOM brand in wastewater treatment; maintain strong client relationships and drive strategic project opportunities; actively support and guide high-priority pursuits.
The work will include:
- Performing various responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
- Being responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
- Planning and developing engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. Including exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
- Liaising with other business units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
- Acting on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
- Working under minimal supervision.
- Supervising a group of junior engineers, coordinating workload and activities of the unit in partnership with other water & wastewater group managers.
QualificationsMinimum Requirements- BSc in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering, and 6+ years of demonstrated experience in Biosolids Technology and wastewater treatment.
- Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, technologies, and environmental regulations
- Proficiency in process engineering, data analysis, and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline), with 10+ years of demonstrated experience.
- Proven expertise in the development, optimization, and application of water and wastewater treatment and management solutions.
- Strong background in municipal water and wastewater facility operations, including process troubleshooting and performance optimization.
