Full Job Description
Process Engineer

We are looking for a Process Engineer for our Troy, MI facility. The Process Engineer is the subject matter expert on the products and manufacturing processes within the Troy Manufacturing Site. He or she supports the day-to-day powder manufacturing operation and leads continuous improvement projects.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serving as a technical resource for Production personnel.
  • Sustaining/improving product yield and quality.
  • Managing technical projects, under some guidance from more senior engineers or engineering manager.
  • Identifying and executing continuous improvement projects (yield improvements, cost savings initiatives, cycle time reductions, variability reduction, first time right initiatives etc.).
  • Identifying and proposing upgrades and/or purchase of new equipment.
  • Maintaining liaison with vendors.
  • Supporting or leading various capital expenditure projects.
  • Leading and supporting root cause investigations.
  • Addressing nonconformances.
  • Implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintaining SAP master data (bills of material, recipes, etc.).
  • Creating charge calculations according to product specifications.
  • Working closely with the Controller on product costing and other financial analyses.
  • Transferring new products and technologies from R&D to Production (scale up).
  • Creating, updating, and providing training on work instructions, manufacturing batch records, and other documentation.


Your Profile:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • 7+ years of manufacturing experience in a bulk material production environment
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder
  • Eagerness to get hands-on with dirty, noisy, and hot equipment when help is needed.
  • Knowledge of powder manufacturing, thermal spray processes, and thermodynamics
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, and maintenance and facilities activities
  • Knowledge of lean and six sigma methodologies
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality System Standard
  • Familiarity with AS9100 QMS Standard
