Job Summary

Flex intends to spin off its Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment into a new, independent publicly traded company, which we’re calling SpinCo, until the name is unveiled. The spin is planned for Q1 2027. If the intended spin occurs, this role will support SpinCo, which will focus on critical digital infrastructure, delivering end-to-end power and thermal management solutions for AI data centers and other mission-critical applications. 

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Process Engineer located inSalt Lake City, UT.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Process Engineer will be In charge for process-engineering capabilities focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements in order to hold up a manufacturing organization.

What a typical day looks like:

  • Recognize the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques and the product.
  • Define, implement and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Experience with process change on MES, and knowledge creating documentations for IT and manage flex-flow, BAAN, and flex tools.
  • Have the capability to singly or with other engineering stakeholders identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process.
  • High level participation in daily production activities and effective problem solving on daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Hold up and oversee new process equipment production.
  • Hold up the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters.
  • Develop, implement and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety, productivity and give in improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and through put.
  • Provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities and gives in.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Review processing methods.
  • Interface with production of all activities associated with new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair hold up as required.
  • Guide cost improvement/reduction programs.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Typically requires 6 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related area. 
  • Demonstrates advanced operations, technical and people and/or process skills as well as customer (external and internal) relationship skills.
  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of the function and a thorough understanding of Flex and related business.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of multiple functional technologies/ processes, industries or functions and understanding of interdependencies of such processes at the site.
  • Impacts the near-term (quarterly/semi-annual) operational success of the function. Enhances and provides input to functional processes or technologies. Assists in achieving section/sub-function objectives for a functional area.
  • Demonstrates capability in leading a major initiative that may impact multiple sites/customers.
  • Exercises independent judgment within generally defined procedures and policies for selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Provides input for team decisions. Decisions may affect sections/ sub-functions.
  • Normally receives no instruction. Identifies skills needed within team and works with team to achieve them. Demonstrates Flex’s values.
