Process EngineerBelvidere, NJAs a Process Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for a key area of the production process, driving improvements in product performance, efficiency, and reliability. You will help ensure safe, environmentally responsible, and high-quality operations while supporting production goals and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and Engineering teams, you will solve technical challenges and support project execution. This role offers the opportunity to work independently, lead improvement efforts, and contribute to the long-term success of the manufacturing operation.
Your key responsibilities- Monitor, analyze, and optimize process performance; lead troubleshooting efforts and provide technical expertise to improve safety, quality, reliability, and production results.
- Develop and implement process improvements, establish operating parameters, and support capital projects to enhance production capability and efficiency.
- Maintain a strong presence in manufacturing areas, working closely with operators and production teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead improvement initiatives, root cause investigations, and corrective actions while providing coaching and technical training to operations personnel.
- Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) requirements, Management of Change (MOC) processes, safety reviews, and incident investigations.
- Support quality and operational excellence through SOP development, validation activities, KPI reporting, material management, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Logistics teams.
You bring- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field required; Chemical Engineering preferred.
- 1-2+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated processing industry.
- Knowledge of production processes, process optimization, process safety, and regulatory compliance (cGMP, ICH Q7, ISO, environmental and safety standards).
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma; Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills, with the ability to lead initiatives and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with manufacturing systems and tools (SAP, process control systems, Minitab, or similar) and the ability to support field activities, off-shift needs, and multiple concurrent priorities.
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant's job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary $64,300 - $118,700.
