Full Job Description
Process Engineer and Digital Twin Lead - Aerospace

Shelby, NC

As an Process Engineer and Digital Twin Lead - Aerospace, you will be responsible for developing a plant simulation that integrates two complementary simulation domains: (1) Discrete Event System simulation (DES) representing plant operations and material flows, and (2) physics-based process simulation representing unit operations and process behavior. Together, these will form a synchronized, executable digital twin supporting design, commissioning, and operations. Additionally, you will troubleshoot plant process systems, identify and optimize critical process variables, and maintain process documentation. With a focus on the continuous improvement of manufacturing unit operations, we can achieve best-in-class safety, quality, productivity, cost, and customer service standards.

This is an onsite role at our Shelby, North Carolina location, and report directly to the Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Be actively engaged in safety; participate in site safety programs and ensure operational discipline and compliance with both company and regulatory safety standards and requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to improve manufacturing unit operations process flows, process capability, production yields, overall cost of goods sold, equipment reliability, waste minimization, and EH&S improvements through data-based decision making.
  • Lead development of site digital twin and maintain model through future site expansions. Link DES and physics-based simulations through co-simulation or orchestration layers to enable closed-loop, time-synchronized execution. Ensure consistent data exchange between flow-level and process-level models.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the manufacturing unit operations teams including the observation and analysis of production runs, root cause investigation of off-standard production runs, and the development of sustainable corrective actions.
  • Maintain and/or identify ways to improve the quality of our products, and adherence to quality standards, through continuous process improvement, DOEs, and operating procedure enhancement.
  • Be the technical liaison between new product development initiatives and the integration of them into manufacturing unit operations.

Qualifications:
  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refugees are eligible to apply
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years plant simulation experience
  • 3 + years process manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in a chemical plant or discrete manufacturing operation.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience preferred.
  • Experience with industrial data systems (IoT, SCADA, MES)
