Job Summary
The Process Controls Engineer will be responsible for executing projects that maintain, upgrade, and improve automated control systems within operating facilities. The role includes control system design, instrumentation selection, PLC and DCS upgrades, installation support, system commissioning, and troubleshooting while ensuring compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering project teams and production staff.
• Execute projects to maintain and improve automated control systems.
• Implement control system expansion and obsolescence replacement projects.
• Perform Allen Bradley PLC5 to ControlLogix (CLX5000) migration projects.
• Perform Allen Bradley SLC500 to ControlLogix (CLX5000) upgrades.
• Execute Siemens PCS7 HMI version upgrades and controller upgrades.
• Perform Siemens TIA Portal upgrades to Version 20.
• Support instrumentation and control device selection.
• Design, configure, and support PLC and DCS control systems.
• Travel to operating sites to perform installation checkout and system commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation and control system issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
• Support commissioning and startup activities for automation projects.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working with automated control systems.
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel 20-40%, primarily within the United States and other locations in the Americas.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLC5, ControlLogix (CLX5000), and SLC500 systems.
• Experience with Siemens PCS7.
• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of system commissioning processes.
