Job Purpose and Impact

The Process Controls Engineer will work within the Cargill Process Innovation team to develop process control strategies for Cargill manufacturing. This role will partner with teams in Smart Manufacturing and Cargill manufacturing and apply expertise in advanced process controls and data analytics to improve safety, sustainability, and efficiency across the enterprise.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and design advanced process controls strategies across Cargill plants.
  • Collaborate with process simulation and manufacturing analytics teams to create process control strategies for new and existing Cargill processes.
  • Collaborate with the North American regional Smart Manufacturing teams and manufacturing sites on high-value, high-priority process controls projects.
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver scalable impact through process controls.
  • Estimate project scope, level of effort, and value for controls projects.
  • Provide process controls and other engineering expertise within projects related to yield improvement, energy efficiency, throughput, down-time reduction, product quality and variable cost reduction.
  • Identify new opportunities for process improvements by analyzing production data and developing process controls strategies aligned with business objectives that can be scaled quickly over multiple facilities.
  • Communicate effectively across a variety of stakeholders including R&D, Smart Manufacturing, plant operations, and business leaders. Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Enable business results from process control efforts.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.


This Position could work from one of the following Cargill locations: Wayzata, MN is preferred; Eddyville, IA; or Blair, NE.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of processes and controls
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with advanced process control and model predictive control
  • Five or more years of related experience
  • Experience with DCS controls systems such as DeltaV, D3, ControlLogix PlantPAx, ABB DCS, etc.
  • Experience with controls in food and beverage manufacturing
  • Experience with utility systems: boilers, cogeneration, cooling water systems
  • Master's and/or PhD degree


Compensation Data

The expected salary for this position is $80,000-110,000. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive award amount is dependent upon company performance and your personal performance.
