Description
The successful candidate will work as a member of the product engineering group and interface with manufacturing teams in developing and characterizing liquid-crystal-based light modulators. Relevant experience in characterizing and formulating polymers, operating basic electrical and optical instrumentation, processing images, and coding in Matlab and Labview required.
Responsibilities
• Characterize electrical and optical properties of NCAP (nematic curvilinear aligned phase) liquid-crystal films.
• Make improvements and continue development of electro-optical test-stations driven by GPIB and controlled with Labview.
• Characterize and formulate NCAP (nematic curvilinear aligned phase) coating material.
• Develop and improve algorithms for image processing and defect thresholding in MATLAB.
• Drive failure analysis of poorly performing devices.
Education/Experience
• BS or higher degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, EE, physics or related field.
• Familiarity with basic electrical instrumentation: oscilloscopes, pulse generators, photodiodes, IV, CV
• Basic familiarity with semiconductor process technology and cleanroom protocol.
• At least 6 months experiencing in formulating, coating, and characterizing polymer-based films.
• Experience in controlling instrumentation and data acquisition over GPIB using Labview.
• Strong MATLAB coding experience particularly with respect to image processing. Knowledge of defect thresholding techniques a plus.
• Experience in statistical process control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE) principles.
• Familiarity with basic failure analysis and thin film characterization: reflectometry, SEM, TEM, FTIR.
• Familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques: TGA, DSC, GPLC, ICP, NMR
