Position Overview

The Private Banker is responsible for achieving customer service and sales goals as established in the MPB Private Bank's annual operating plan. The person in this role will develop and manage the High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth relationships which are typically the largest and most complex. This individual will perform a variety of duties to meet the service needs of the customers while complying with operating policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a member of the organization's sales team; makes sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.
  • Shares the value of Private Banking with clients who may be eligible
  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.
  • Actively manages client banking relationships through an advice-based approach, ensuring each client receives the best products and services for his or her needs.
  • Partners with specialists in other areas of the bank such as Trust and Wealth Management Services, Risk Management Services and Mortgage Bankers to connect customers to experts who can help them with specialized financial needs.
  • Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business and consumer relationships with present customers to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.
  • Makes lives of clients more convenient by sharing and setting up self-service options to access their account 24 hours a day/7-days a week.
  • Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.
  • Maintains an active role in community affairs to improve the company's visibility in the area; serves on various civic committees to increase company community involvement.
  • Effectively utilizes the Customer Relationship Management program to track customer sales and service activities as well as cultivate prospective opportunities within the office's market area.
  • Follows the company's Customer Identification Policy (CIP) to ensure accurate identification of customers during the account opening process.

Education and Qualifications
  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally required; specialized banking education and training.
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years' experience in related positions normally required.
