Full Job Description
The UnitedHealth Group (UHG) Privacy Consultant will be responsible for managing key functions of the UHG Enterprise Privacy Office (EPO) privacy program, including privacy policies, privacy training, privacy communications and awareness, and privacy sustainability planning.

You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Developing, maintaining, and implementing corporate Privacy policies and related procedures, with additional administrative responsibility for policy management, updates, and the policy exception process
  • Creating and implementing enterprise-wide, role-based, and targeted Privacy trainings, including identifying risk-based Privacy content and corresponding training solutions;
  • Contributing to and executing the Enterprise Privacy Office Communications and Visibility plan, which includes disseminating Privacy awareness content in a variety of forums within the company
  • Reporting on the state of and improvements to the Privacy Program, as well as matters of Privacy risk - both avoidance and remediation - to executive leadership;
  • Reporting on the state of the Privacy Program and internal controls by providing evidence and responses to external requestors, such as clients and third-party auditors;
  • Assisting with the design and execution of metric-based Privacy data reporting;
  • Supporting responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools, to improve privacy program operations, training, communications, reporting, and process efficiency; and
  • Managing the Privacy sustainability plan by administering quarterly updates as well as the annual Business Continuity test.

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience and knowledge in two or more of the following:
    • Knowledge of various privacy frameworks, standards, and regulations, including HIPAA and healthcare privacy knowledge
    • Privacy Program including policies and procedures, training and communications, governance, strategy
    • Process improvement or project/program management
  • Proven solid communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate to executive leadership, key stakeholders, privacy colleagues, compliance/legal partners, and the business
  • Proven solid team player with excellent people skills; ability to operate independently but also collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Proven detail oriented with a focus on quality, customer service, and positive relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to sought out as an expert
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, assess, and develop training related to privacy risks


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) or other certification
  • Program management or process improvement experience
  • Experience with or demonstrated comfort using AI-enabled tools, automation, analytics, or emerging technologies to improve business processes, reporting, or program effectiveness
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other data analytics background
  • Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint background

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
