Full Job Description
This position is accountable for on-site commissioning activities on designated complex projects. The Principal Commissioning Field Engineer works with the Project Manager and the District Service Manager to develop and implement the technical, logistical and commercial strategy for the successful installation and commissioning of assigned projects. This position reports to the Area Manager. The Principal Commissioning Field Engineer's (CFEs) main task is to develop and oversee the logistical, technical and commercial strategy for on-site installation, commissioning and final customer acceptance of assigned packages. The CFE is the focal point for communications and solutions of engineering problems during the commissioning phase of a project. He/she must be self-initiated and capable of directing personnel and resources at the work site during critical stages of the project and must be willing to travel for extended periods of time to both domestic and international locations. The CFE brings continuity and project knowledge to the on-site commissioning of a project by attending project pre-commissioning meetings, design reviews and kick-off meetings as available. Close coordination and good communication with Customers, contractors and Solar groups such as Field Service, Project Management, Design Engineering, Test, Response Center, etc. is required. This position is essential to ensure that Solar's risk is managed on complex projects, customer issues during commissioning are resolved efficiently and that the project is successfully executed and handed over. Salary range for this position: $120,660.00 - $150,750.00 What you will do: 3 Prepare for and develop a thorough knowledge of each assigned project by tracking it through project execution. 3 Participate in kick-off, design review and pre-commissioning meetings where possible for assigned projects. 3 Identify and communicate potential project problems to Business Management, the District or the appropriate engineering discipline. 3 Work with the Project Manager and the District to develop the technical, logistical and commercial strategy for the commissioning of the project. 3 Acts as the site project manager and assist field personnel on the solution of field problems related to the installation and commissioning of projects. 3 Works closely with the customer in developing a realistic schedule for installation and commissioning. 3 Anticipates and removes roadblocks that could impede progress. 3 Mentors junior level FSRs and CFEs on best practices for installation and commissioning. 3 Document activities through comprehensive field activity reports. 3 Ensure all contractual requirements are met and transfer ownership to the customer. 3 Report feedback on field issues to Engineering and the Commissioning group in a closed loop, corrective manner. 3 Assist engineering and the commissioning group in establishing procedures and processes related to installation and commissioning of equipment. What you will have: 3 The position requires extensive experience in turbomachinery operations and maintenance and knowledge of the general principles relating to gas turbines and their driven equipment. 3 Proficiency in the troubleshooting of turbomachinery and its related systems, specifically control systems and Balance of Plant equipment, is required. 3 Excellent administrative and written/verbal communication skills are extremely important. 3 Good interpersonal and communications skills are required as the CFE often facilitates diplomacy between Solar and the end-user. 3 Five plus years of previous field experience and/or experience as an RFE is a strong desire. 3 A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or the equivalent practical experience in a technical background is required.
