Full Job Description
What we need

Exol is seeking a strategic leader to own the design, development, and execution of Exol's system quality and testing program. As Principal Technical Program Manager, System Quality & Testing, you will build this function from the ground up-defining what we measure, how we measure it, and what success looks like across a complex, automation-rich environment. You are accountable for establishing the standards and frameworks that govern quality across proprietary and third-party systems, ensuring every layer of our network performs with reliability, consistency, and operational confidence.

What we do

Exol* is pioneering warehousing-as-a-service, offering outsourced warehousing operations, and specializing in automated warehousing solutions. Our focus is on the efficient movement of goods in cases and pallets across all sectors, such as wholesale, retail, and general merchandising.

*Exol is an independently managed joint venture between Symbotic and Softbank.

What you'll do
  • Program Architecture: Invent and own Exol's system quality and testing framework from the ground up, defining scope, methodology, tooling, and governance across automated and manual operations.
  • Test Strategy & Coverage: Establish end-to-end testing strategies across automation platforms and manual processes, determining what must be tested, at what frequency, and to what standard.
  • Metrics & KPIs: Define the quality metrics that matter - throughput accuracy, cycle time integrity, failure rates, and system availability and build the dashboards and reporting cadences that make performance visible to leadership.
  • Defect Management: Design a structured defect lifecycle from detection and classification through root cause analysis and resolution ensuring issues are prioritized, tracked, and closed with accountability.
  • Acceptance Criteria & Release Gates: Develop the standards that determine when a system, integration, or process change is ready for production, including formal UAT frameworks and sign-off protocols.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embed a culture of quality by establishing feedback loops between testing outcomes, operational performance, and engineering teams to drive iterative system improvement.
  • Vendor & Partner Engagement: Serve as Exol's quality authority in relationships with automation vendors and third-party platform providers, holding partners to defined performance and reliability standards.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Align Operations, Engineering, and Technology stakeholders around a shared quality language, ensuring quality is a shared accountability and not a siloed function.

What we need
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in quality management, program management, or systems operations-ideally within warehouse automation, logistics, or fulfillment environments.
  • Quality Certification: Active certification in a recognized quality discipline, such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt+ (SSGB+), or equivalent through ASQ or a comparable body.
  • Testing Frameworks: Demonstrated experience designing and implementing structured testing programs, including UAT, regression testing, and operational acceptance protocols for complex or automated systems.
  • Program Ownership: Proven track record of building programs or functions from scratch, with the ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments and drive outcomes without established playbooks.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience aligning cross-functional teams-including Engineering, Operations, and third-party vendors-around shared quality standards and performance expectations.

Preferred
  • Advanced Education: Master's degree in engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Automation Environment Experience: Hands-on experience working directly with goods-to-person or robotic fulfillment systems in a quality, testing, or operational capacity.
  • Industry Methodology: Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management standards or experience operating within a formally certified quality management system (QMS).

Our environment
  • Up to 25% travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
