Full Job Description
As a Principal Technical Program Manager on the team, you will be at the forefront of innovation, driving program execution on some of the most high ambiguity, high impact initiatives within Ads. You will work across Product, Science, and Engineering to drive AI initiatives spanning VP organizations, including 1) our Analyst Agent which will work alongside other ads agents to transform the performance reporting and insights experience for advertisers, and 2) our Ads Customer Journey Model, which seeks to revolutionize our measurement, planning, and optimization experiences through foundational customer journey understanding. You will own the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale technical programs that span multiple teams, product organizations, and business stakeholders. You9ll work at the intersection of advertising technology, machine learning, and distributed systems to solve ambiguous problems that shape the future of digital advertising.

Key job responsibilities

- Own end-to-end program management for strategic advertising technology initiatives spanning multiple teams and organizations

- Drive technical strategy and roadmap alignment across engineering, product, science, and business teams

- Lead cross-functional teams through complex technical challenges in areas such as ad serving, campaign management, measurement, and optimization

- Establish program governance, metrics, and reporting mechanisms to ensure visibility and accountability at the VP level

- Identify and mitigate technical and operational risks across large-scale distributed systems serving billions of ad requests daily

- Partner with engineering leaders to influence architecture decisions and ensure scalability, reliability, and performance

- Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders across Amazon Ads, AWS, and Retail organizations

- Drive operational excellence through process improvements, automation, and best practices

- Mentor and develop other TPMs across the organization

- Represent Amazon Ads technical programs in executive-level reviews and planning sessions

A day in the life

You will solve real-world problems by getting and analyzing large amounts of data, generate business insights and opportunities, design simulations and experiments, and develop statistical and ML models. The team is driven by business needs, which requires collaboration with other Scientists, Engineers, and Product Managers across the advertising organization. You will prepare written and verbal presentations to share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

About the team

We are a team of scientists across Applied, Research, Data Science and Economist disciplines. You will work with colleagues with deep expertise in ML, NLP, CV, Gen AI, and Causal Inference with a diverse range of backgrounds. We partner closely with top-notch engineers, product managers, sales leaders, and other scientists with expertise in the ads industry to build scalable modeling and software solutions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

- 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

- 5+ years of software development experience

- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
