About the Team:Web Infra is part of our Engineering Platforms org. We own the foundation frontend engineers build on: CI/CD, build tooling, observability, feature flags, microfrontend architecture, performance optimisation, and engineering standards across a ~2.8M LOC React monorepo. Every frontend engineer at AlphaSense ships through the platform we build. The decisions we make directly influence engineering velocity, deployment confidence, reliability, and developer experience across the company. We obsess over developer productivity, measuring success through build times, deployment reliability, DORA metrics, and developer satisfaction.
The current team is based in Europe, and we're hiring our first engineer in the US. As the first US-based member of Web Infra, you'll play a key role in strengthening how the team supports product engineering across the region while contributing to the evolution of our frontend platform. This is intentionally a Principal-level role: you'll be expected to identify opportunities, set direction, and drive high-impact initiatives with a high degree of autonomy rather than operate from a prescriptive backlog. You'll work closely with the European team on strategy and roadmap while owning outcomes end-to-end.
About the Role: A key part of this role is embedding AI into the SDLC in a way that meaningfully augments engineers' day-to-day workflows. We believe the next generation of engineering productivity will be driven by AI-native development experiences, and you'll help define how frontend engineers at AlphaSense build, test, debug, and ship software at scale.
Who You Are:- Principal-level experience in platform engineering, developer experience, or internal tooling
- Deep hands-on background with Web CI/CD: pipeline design, reliability, build optimization
- Solid knowledge of modern frontend - React at scale, microfrontends, module federation
- Experience scaling frontend observability: errors, performance, RUM and analytics
- Track record of improving DevEx metrics in the right direction (DORA, DX insights, CSAT)
- Strong instinct for finding systemic friction and solving it pragmatically
- Proven ability to operate independently in a distributed team across a timezone gap
- Hands-on experience applying AI tooling to real engineering workflows
- Based in EST timezone
Nice to have: - Experience with progressive delivery and feature flag platforms
- Experience with test platforms and QA automation
- Familiarity with Kubernetes-based infrastructure and cloud-native deployment patterns
- Prior work on a platform or DX team serving frontend engineers specifically
What You'll Do:- Own and improve the dev loop for frontend: local dev, build, test - fast, reliable, no flakiness
- Drive CI/CD reliability, speed, and deployment confidence across the frontend platform
- Evolve microfrontend architecture, module patterns, and the standards inside the monorepo
- Build and maintain self-service tooling and internal platform capabilities
- Embed AI across the web SDLC - code authoring, testing, debugging, documentation
- Define, track and improve developer productivity metrics: build time, DORA, developer CSAT
- Identify systemic friction in the developer journey and fix it with solutions that scale
